Poor Hroggar. I take it Grim didn't have any Calm scrolls on him.
Sometimes you have to make tough choices. I dislike "reloading" and then buying a calm spell or reloading until he is not in the house. Oh in some rare cases I might reload to try something again ... but I try to keep it to a bare minimum to make the game more realistic.
The true irony here? Is AFTER I did this I found the mage, Falion, and brought a calm spell off him ... course it was the most basic and not sure it would be high enough for Hroggar.
I am not sure if it would be better to have him live anyhow. Perhaps he hadn't been the loving husband and was more just an ass and vampire or not wanted to run off with her? Perhaps he wanted to be a vampire. Should he have been saved then? Grim assumed he was a nice enough guy but no way of knowing if the burning of the house was his idea or not.
If he was a good man ... what would his life be like knowing he was in some way responsible for the death of his own family? I suppose he would have joined the Dawnguard and made a fanatical vampire killer ... so many choices and options.
In the end, however, Grim had only minutes to react and did not have the chance to just knock him unconscious.
I do occasionally use meta-game knowledge, if I can do so realistically for a character. (E.g., a character who really doesn't like or trust magic probably wouldn't have that calm spell; or one might pick the wrong suspect in Blood on the Ice, if it makes more sense in-character, even though I know where it'll lead.) I'll also reload sometimes if an NPC I'd really rather keep alive gets killed. However, I also like to play things through as well, and take them as they go. (E.g., even if that Thalmor prisoner dies when trying to free him, he's probably still getting a better death than the Thalmor would give him.)
By the way, Hroggar is level 7, and low-level Calm works up to level 8.
Plus part of me feels Hroggar is truly better off with his family in the afterlife in this situation. His life would be horrible afterwards.
The lighting and colors in interior cells looks really awesome!
When it comes to Alva I'm always torn between killing her or using the console to enable marriage
Well Grim should have some perks based on his lineage and considering all the hardships he has had to endure as a consequence. Appreciate the comments and glad you enjoyed the story and shots
It´s a pity that i can`t buy a house there.
Wonderful story around the Morthal Quest and amazing images of the swamps, and Wolfgar of course!
And yeah, the last image is wonderful, i really love pictures of Wolfgar, but this shot is extremely beautiful !
