I'm just going to remain quiet.
    No words are needed.

But as many others have doubted: keeping a firemage captive? Pfff!
But poor Sadri He's about to get a rougher round than he did from before.

    Splendid as always!

I was wondering when Rathe would STOP allowing himself to be "wrapped" 'round that damned Tart's little pinky-finger! About time!

Why does Rathe NOT wake up and remember Fleur's magical abilities...THAT would give him some questions as to Fleur's so-called "capture"....she once turned a bunch of evil rapists (hers) into freaking charcoal,^^ so, HOW is it likely that she'll allow anyone to mess with her AGAIN? More charcoal briquettes, anyone??^^
    > Ding-Dong< Rathe!^^
Endorsed. Warm and kind thanks and cheers, dear!

Hehehehe, I love the way NO ONE is buying the fact that Fleur's managed to get herself captured again. Very clever little bunch of readers aren't you?

      Thanks dear!!

I am glad Astrid got a little bit of her own medicine back and that she has figured out she can toy with Rathe only so much. I am learning a bit more about the DB as well which is interesting. I always kill them all myself so never did those quests and know very little about it except the small pieces I pick up in stories like this.I suppose I could read the quest line on Wiki but I have never been big for spoilers even on quests I don't do. Still I do know who Cicero is as well as Sithis and the Night Mother. I also think there is a choice to kill with Cicero or side with him I think? Anyhow sounds like Astrid fears him.

Hope Rathe manages to track down that merchant in the city. I liked how you repeated that thought. It was a very effective way of showing his unconscious working away at the information. I wonder how they keep a fire mage in slavery? I wonder if things are not exactly as they seem? Will be curious to see where things go.

I'm glad you're enjoying learning about the DB through this tale. Fair warning though; I will be using some poetic licence with bits of the storyline as my own story progresses!

Good question, how does one keep a fire mage in slavery?

      Thanks hon!

Once again I love the way you describe those conversations between Rathe and Astrid, this one like a battle fought with words rather than daggers, Rathe getting impatient with her hiding that information a very real threat leaving his lips, Astrid trying to get another task out of him with her manipulative ways, the information she revealed seems but a false path. Rathe instincts are sharp as ever, sensing that paranoia dripping from Astrid's words, figuring out who the legitimate businessman of Windhelm was, seems one is in for an unpleasant visit from a familiar face. Seem intriguing things lie ahead for Rathe, fantastic work, Jess ^^

Ascension really suits your tale, brings that certain grittiness yet at the same time some great colour

I like that 'a battle fought with words rather than daggers'. That's SO true about this conversation. I wrote it and thought, wow, what a battle, then took the images and thought; my God, they're so boring! I guess there was enough tension in the conversation to keep it interesting! I feel like I owe you all some carnage soon though
