Thanks for linking these all together. I came in late to the series and wanted to know the beginnings ... so it was great to find these

Oh gosh... I'm really trying not to break out into a long fan rant, but you make it so hard not to! >.> This is so amazing! jashfashlf~! Sorry, I kinda mashed my keyboard in excitement. First off, the story and pics are so incredible, you have such talent with writing! And please don't worry about it being long, I know I worry sometimes too but this is so perfect, I really enjoyed it!

It's kinda weird seeing them so out of practice, but I'm glad they got a nice break, they totally deserve it! A little sad though that they started losing their skills. I love the image of Stenvar eating, and his big belly! Judah is so adorable, I love the shot of him barking and the one of him running alongside Stenvar, it's so sweet. I like Julien's horse's name, I thought it was pretty. ^^ And that last shot is just... Dawww. ^-^ I can't wait for the next part, I love the way you write, it's all so great! And did Julien age some? He looks a little older. Okay, I'm done.

P.S. Did I mention how perfect this is?

Eeeeee! I'm glad you liked it so much to damage your keyboard
Oh thank you so much. I'll try not to complain about my stories so much. I'm glad there are cool people like you and there others who commented and stuff who like my stories.

I think they just meant to take a short break but got out of hand and ended up settling down and getting jobs for longer than they expected. At least they weren't completely out of practice. I had another image of tubby Stenvar checking out the food stands while on guard duty hehehe. Oh gosh, Judah! He's like the cutest thing on the planet right now. I think he loves having his picture taken, he's almost always got some pose any time I tfc 1. "Jeanette Claire" has a nice breton ring to it doesn't it
I think it's just his hair's pulled back and the lighting shows off his wrinkles heh no he didn't age, I wrote the story before I took the shots so I had that ECE edit so his face looks skinnier making him look older.

I could just shake you really! This story isn't too long man, when it's well done it's never too long. Now that I've read it I can't wait for the next part. I think you really need to start considering your talent Alex (it's like the way you speak of your 'little' drawings when anyone could tell they are fantastic). This is not just a little story made after characters you've created in a game and then posted on a website. It's a part of yourself that you're sharing with the rest of us here. Makes me proud of you and happy to be your friend...

Skyrim is a wonderful game but it lacks depth in their characters and this is what you are bringing. I love all the little details you added here and there. The way Julien is mentioning Hulda and the way Stenvar speaks of when he used to be a merc in Windhelm, which is part of vanilla Skyrim. It's all very believable. The way they found a temporary "job" in Whiterun which is reflecting who they are as a person was also very clever. And believe me, a lot of us know who Julien and your Stenvar actually are.

I have to say that I'm very happy with the little addition... Judah!! He fits perfectly between Julien and Stenvar's dialogues. He brings a touch of humour. I have the feeling that we will become very attached to him too.

I also need to mention your screen shots. I always thought that they were reflecting Skyrim and this series is no different. A lot of people are posting amazing quality images but often they are not really reflecting the game in any way. It's ok too but I like Skyrim I also love the way you make the characters pause perfectly, to make it fit the story! I wish I had the talent and the patience for that!

I think that I need to stop here... I could just go on and on and babble... All in all, I love what you do and I know that I'm not the only one. Keep entertaining us with the beautiful story you have with Skyrim. Do it until you are bored of doing it or bored of the game. I know you will have fans until you stop, me being the NUMBER 1 FAN!!

*cracks knuckles to reply to heartfelt comment*
      I think that just happened to me ;___;
      ....... Anyways ^^

Noooo! Don't shake me!! Well I'm glad you think so. I'm glad that you really liked it so much I'm working on the next part now so hopefully the wait won't be too long. I know I shouldn't be as doubtful of myself as I am it's just some quirk I've had for like ever. You're sooooo nice to say such things though, there's really nothing I could do to thank you this is so generous.

Yeah Bethesda should really go more in depth with their characters, there are so many and they should each have their own personas and experiences and what not, but I know theres only so much they can do with such a big game, and I know there are people with big enough imaginations that they can come up with their own backgrounds for the characters. So it's not all that bad. And then there's the player character which can be anything you want it to be, and that's true judging by all the different interesting and unique characters that are posted everyday. And I'm more than happy with Judah, honestly IRL I don't really like German Shepards (bad experiences with them) but i know they are awesome dogs and Judah is once bad ass. Dragon comes down, you think Judah cares? He doesn't, Judah bites the crap out of that dragon >: D! And I love dogs so I knew soon enough I'd have one as a follower.

I like Skyrim a lot too, and don't want to post nothing but close ups so I try to keep screenshots relevant to the world. Though I could do more environment pictures I guess but my stories center around my characters so TONS of pics of them instead >_>
And I know you have the talent and creativity to write an awesome story!!

I think together we've made the longest comment in Nexus history >_> I'll stop too, you can babble on and on later. It seems I never grow tired of this game, I'll still post pics and stories for a while for sure! And again, you are too kind this really means a lot to me ^^

I'm taking notes here, with the real Big story I'm planning. I can't do limited dialogue like I did for The Goodbye series. Great shots, and story to go along with it.

Aww, I almost missed this! Forgive me. u_u
Love it, a great story and so interesting. You never think about what adventurers do when they retire. . They just become NPCs. Duh. But it's cool to see these two get back into action, and poor chubby Sten. . That was cute - and that mean shot of just his belly.
That last picture is so cute though. ^^

The story wasn't at all too long though, and the pictures went along with it so well!

      It's cool
Thank you, it seemed like an interesting idea to ponder, what happens when they take a break or retire. Correct, they become scripted npcs which isn't the life they want. They'll be back to themselves in no time ^^ I wish I could've added a little bit of real fat to Stenvar but that armor seemed to do the trick

It seemed longer when I was typing it. Yeah it's actually not that long, hmm. Anywho thank you

Oh Grey, don't doubt your writing skills (kind of hypocrite of me to say that, to be honest, but still).
It was an enjoyable prologue. And all that you've written before has always been original and a blast to read.

and plot holes are what draws (and keeps) the crowd in, keeps the discussions going on who's right about what etc. Just look at Star Wars

Lol I'm the same way, I tell everyone else not to then do it myself. Oh well, easier said than done. Well I am glad you liked it dude
Then if there are plot holes, so be it, I just hope there are no spelling arers, that would be the worst >_>

You should have more confidence in your tale, Grey, you did such excellent work crafting this new chapter in the thread of adventures of Julien and Stenva. the length of it is fine and I really liked the change in perspective with them taking a break from that life of adventurers, you described their calm daily life among the walls of Whiterun so wonderfully. Stenvar is certainly the one to want to return to adventure, that dialogue of their was amusing with the great warrior speaking of his gut and Julien of his forgoetten spells, Judah responding enthusiastically to his words was so cute. As they ventured out of those gates it seems those instincts one gains during adventure quickly return, the familiar din of battle and the landscapes along one's journey bringing back their adventurous side. I really liked how the names of the horses really reflected their personalities, it is a wonderful little detail. The shots really capture that new adventure beautifully along with the words, I look forward to seeing their journey continue ^^

Oh thank you, I'll try ^^ no promises though heheh. I like this perspective of retired adventurers. It's something that they could get too used to and Stenvar wanted to get out and return to risky battles and dragon fights. And he definitely had to do something about that growing gut of his and Judah wants to join in on the fun as well. I imagine fighting has a lot to do with muscle memory which is a lot harder to forget than brain memories (?) so they were getting back to their old selves faster than they thought they would. The newcomer animals are more than welcome on their adventures. Thank you buddy, glad you enjoyed it.

Don't be silly grey, your story was no way too long or full of holes! It was entertaining and with awesome little touches (like Julien packing his favourite books and naming his horse!) I loved it! Can't wait for the next instalment and wish there was a way to cross over worlds as my trio have just about made it to Winterhold too. Imagine the adventures they could all have!

Oh I just love throwing my self doubt into the story
I do like random details that serve no purpose in the story hahah. I'm working on part 2 now ^___^ that would be interesting to see a merging of parties!
