Beth's personality is a great deal like his but she usually sports a grim and sad look. A contrast to Cicero's perpetual smile that was quite intentional. I like to think his madness somehow keeps her feeling sane.

"Out of all of the followers there are, why the hell did you pick him?"
"Because he's awesome! You just got to get to know him," was all my brother could say.
So in fairness I did some research gave the Dark Brotherhood quest line a try, got sucked in too. I don't think Cicero is as crazy as he comes off. Having to take care of a corpse for around a decade utterly alone is bound to make anyone socially awkward and come off a bit nutters. "Cicero crazy? That's... madness." Gets me smiling every time.
For now I only have him as a follower with Beth. None of my other characters have even touched the Dark Brotherhood quests and I doubt any of them will. Part of it is it's one long and yes emotionally taxing haul to earn Cicero. (I'm usually a goodie two shoes)
That and for some reason UFO is not working with him. But for Beth it's no big deal. Because in wanting to complete contracts with little complications as possible, I left my comfort zone and kept my followers at home. End result I earned a bit more confidence in my game play ability.
All and all it's nice to have a follower that has a back story, who isn't so serious and copes with hardship in life with laughter.
