Nice incorporation of Isleen's, err. Saarh's gift. Well written and thought out.

you truly have a fine talent for the wit. A very enjoyable read, and glad to see that all are getting along well, soon to be adventuring again.
Poor Signar, such a situation to be in, a total stranger to the humor of the company.
Loved the tune and the great shots

Thanks Steven - looks like you are all caught up with current stories for Grim! Maybe I should slow down on Kavel :) Glad you enjoyed the story. I like humor although sometimes I go a bit wide of the mark. It is fun to write this way though.

They are enjoying themselves but they can take only so much down time before they get itchy for something to do

Not that many in those lands deal with divines and deadra as often in their everyday life as Grim and his friends do so it makes sense that Signar is a little uncomfortable with such things, entities against which a blade may have little effect and that are much more unpredictable than the usual foes of a warrior. Signar was having some odd thoughts about what Grim might be like as he wandered, thoughts brought out by his fondness for Saarh and his insecurities in regards to that. It is kind of amusing how Erik was teasing Grim as he struggled a bit with his archery, something Erik is much better at, shows that he still has something to learn about archery shows that human side of him.

It is fortunate that the staff Signar is carrying is helping him with that long journey clad in heavy armour, soemthing that can make even the strongest warrior quite weary, though it does not stop him from sweating a little. Seems Lotsi is not quite used to the company of Grim and Erik or mortals in general, them seeming boring to one as playful as him, their honey moon quite a puzzling thing to him. It is good to hear that Avrein is making some progress in helping Grim with those dragon souls, already organizing a journey by ship to Solstheim, the souls sure were pleased about that, speaking after having been quiet for a while.

Wolfgar certainly made an odd impression on Signar as he tried to get the warrior to follow, the intelligence of the unusual wolf being a little startling to him. It is good that Grim was there to keep Losti from getting carried away with his teasing which would have made the warrior all the more nervous. Grim certainly was not as Signar had expected, having quite the different nature from Saarh though related. Grim certainly had quite the kind words and gratitude in receiving that gift from Saarh, it is nice that she has sent such a gift to help. I see Losti could not help making a joke as Grim spoke about Erik's cooking, remembering that name Erik has for Grim, made me chuckle. I wonder how Signar will find that odd company as he stays the night. A wonderful chapter, Jonathan

Howdy Alexis and thanks for this nice comment. You summed it up nicely - to Grim, and even Erik at this point (who three years ago barely knew what a Daedra was) divines and Daedra are almost "common" place. They seem to meddle in his life on a regular basis. Perhaps because he and his mortal friends provide them with so much entertainment ... and Grim is an oddity being a part Daedra, part Divine, part nature spirit, and part human ... a very weird mix.

He is a bit low key now but having done some big favors for Hircine and Sam they decided to give him a couple of nice gifts in thanks. Course beware Princes bearing gifts (or asking them for favors) as they will then expect the same, and more, in return at a later date.Certainly his battle with Despair was a lot more than Grim had bargained for (likewise helping Sam get those earrings for Dannee).

Grim and Erik's honey moon might have puzzled some mortals as well. A day in and they are already spending their mornings sparring and doing martial exercises. Not ones for too much idle down time it seems. Signar was a bit out of his bailiwick in this whole entourage. Still probably good for this warrior to see another side of reality and to know it actually exists. Perhaps it will serve him in the future having had some brief exposure such as this.

Again thanks for your comment and support of Grim and his friends! Hopefully I will have Kavels origin story soon for folks to try out as well

Awesome job! It is certainly OK to make sure transferring between worlds is working well. Although from the sound of this the honeymoon is almost over and a trip to Solstheim is at hand.

Losti being Losti.....even the new guy that nobody has met gets the heat between the legs LOL!

My thanks for stopping by and Losti ... well he is Losti, Greater Daedra of Lust and Joy ... its what he does best :-)

The honeymoon is indeed over (but at least it ended with a fun party) and the boys are rather excited for a new adventure as none of them have ever been to Solestheim before. Grim is eager to learn about his Dragon Souls and Erik is thrilled to travel by ship. Of course once they get there ... well they may find being bored at home wasn't all that bad :p

First of all - I have to go with Lia... can`t stop laughing when reading this post (but after my coffee ) it was so funny to see Grim -that big bear- with such a small bow at hand, trying to hit the bulls eye. Reminds me that Saarh dont know how to hold a bow. Damn you Jon. I dont want to train her in archery xD

"Seriously Grim, is that the best you can do? Velulfr told me you used to hunt rabbits for food when you were a child. Unless those rabbits wore as big as mammoths I don't know how you avoided starvation." --- SIMPLY THE BEST !!

    And then... POOR POOR SIGNAR.
Running around the hole day in that heavy armor (I use the light armor version in my game), being fully exhausted .. and than such a bunch of friends. A fierce wolf, a lusty daedra and two well known adventurers. He have to feel misplaced and lost in the first moment. But he master this quest well and the artifact is now in the hands of its new owner.

I feel a bit sad when I read all his thoughts around Saarh. You've written them in such an intense and sensitive way... great words. But they are true - "Not like I would have any chance anyhow." I start to play with Lydia only for Signar.. that they get know each other better and well.. we will see what time brings up. Saarh is a bit complicated - she has lost her heart once and wont give it away again. Not so soon.

All in all a great surprising chapter and intro for Grims next adventures. Hope to see my Signar back soon. Awesome work my friend.

Many thanks for the very nice comment and feedback Isleen. I hope this story came as a big surprise for you ... it was hard keeping it a secret while I worked on it!

Grim has always scorned the use of a bow, giving Erik a hard time about it. But with all the vampire hunting (and flying dragons) he has learned it can be very useful at times (bow or crossbow). Finally it is Eriks turn to be the master at something and Grim just the apprentice (well Grim is actually an ok shot - he can do basic hunting. But he isn't an expert or anything).

I see Signar as a bit of the semi-paladin type so like him in the full armor - but I am sure he wears the armor best fitted for his role and duty at the time. Plus his patrons pay his fees so he will wear what they want :-)

I didn't want to impose on Saarh in any way (nor did I know your own plans for Signar) so I figured it would be safe if Signar put Saarh up on a pedestal as a goddess he could admire but never have. Probably safer for him this way as well.

I also don't know how Signar will play out in Grim's world or Kavels world either. For Grim he is straight, but open-minded enough to be OK with Grim, Erik, and Losti (and he managed to survive prison as well). For Kavel my initial planning is about the same - Signar prefers women but he has experimented once or twice.

Anyhow glad you liked this story and thanks again for the thoughtful gift to Grim!

Wonderful and unexpected new story, very lighthearted and warm with very beautiful shots. Nice to see lads having fun, even if they were bored with idliness... I know those two just would not be able to sit and do nothing for too long, the road of adventure calling them. Losti arrival was a surprise and some of his remarks, especially about honeymoon were priceless!

Since Signar appeared in your sets for quite some time I have expected that you manage to include him on story too and now you had! Too bad that Signar had such hard and sad fate, but Losti is right, happiness might be fleeting so why not embrace it? And I can only imagine in what awkward situation Signar might fall, given Losti presence and his love for jokes.
Would look forward for continuation and thank you for sharing your lovely work!

Thanks Nataly - thought this might be a nice surprise for you! The lads simply need a bit more activity. They spent almost an entire month doing next to nothing and they were afraid they would lazy if it continued much longer. So it was a good thing both Signar and Losti showed up. Now they have a new adventure to go on. Besides quiet time at home is more appreciated when it isn't all the time. So I wanted to leave them about to embark on another big mission as I felt it fitted them both better.

So they are all ready for Solestheim. While they spend the next week (their time not my time) getting to the docks in Windhelm I will be busy with Kavel and his story. Unless something unusual happens my next story will be Kavels origins. I have to visit my folks this upcoming weekend so not sure I will have time to finish him then or not - depends on how much I get done this week.

Appreciate you kind comment and glad you enjoyed this little get together

Bahahaha! I knew you could leave Grim alone for too long! You're as bad as me and Rathe. Seriously though, it was great to see what the lads have been up to on their honeymoon and I can't say I was surprised to find that just "relaxing" had worn thin. Two heroes such as Grim and Erik need action! Loved the target practice scene. Nice seeing Erik be better than grim at something

Signar's addition to the story was nice (both as a newcomer to their fantastically odd lives but also as homage to Lia). I love how uncomfortable he was in their "world" - from net 'getting' their in-jokes, to having to face the lusty Losti. It was also great that he was able to relax a bit by the end (at no small amount of prodding by Losti) but I do wonder what diabolical idea you have in mind for the poor lad next chapter...

And also, nice setup for future grim tales. Solthseim. But... you promised us some Kavel first!!

I need to know Grim is there when I need him - so between Saarh and my own need it was a good excuse to make sure things worked a second time. Nice to be able to repeat in case the first time was a fluke.

But yea they need adventure. They get bored pretty quick without things to do. It also felt really good to write an adventure again, even if the start of one. The last few stories of his killed my writing mojo to some degree. So feeling much better having done this story. Feels more right this way - leaving them on the start of an adventure then sitting at home doing nothing.

Erik is a better cook, better at reading people correctly (Grim is a charmer at times but he takes people at face value all too often; Erik has a good instinct for things underneath), two handed weapons, and clearly bows!

So aye he will be going to Soltheseim but not for a bit. While he is busy traveling to Riften with Signar, seeing Lucia, Eir, and Arnbjorn ... and then to the college ... Kavels story will start. Grim's official kick-off will be at the boat in Windhelm. Until then back to Kavel.
