Wow, overwhelmed by everyone's identification with Araelia's struggle. I guess we all have our demons. Thank you all!!

Once again, I find I'm deeply moved by your words and images. It's true- we all carry our own scars- in body, mind or heart, if you will. Beautifully done Jess!

I don't know what it is about Araelia, maybe it's because I just read your "what if" for Rathe and Fleur and still reeling from their emotional story, or its because I've been up all night and just feel a little open hearted than normal but your writing of Araelia's pain that these scars have brought her is simply amazing. The scars are much more than just physical, she is emotionally scared as well. She is a beautiful character but as soon as she thinks about the scars, her reaction is to withdraw from the world and the way she is sitting in the last image is exactly how I picture someone in her situation reacting. Job well done with this chapter Jess

Wonderful set, very powerful that feeling of what other will say or think of us and our scars, be they on our body or in our heart or mind...... very well put and I do hope someone comes along to show her those are but parts of her not the whole....... great story and lovely shots

It is sad how that dress which she found so beautiful that she risked her sister's anger could bring such pain to her, in seeing those scars in the mirror as she twirled around, the emotion is really powerful in the shots and the words. I hope one comes along to cheer her up, to maker her see beyond her scars, beautifully done, Jess.

It is sad and a shame. But as you said, all it takes is someone to come along and say and do the right things to make her realise what she's truly worth (and to let her see her beauty from her own eyes)... Hint...

      Thanks dear.

A nice insight into the mind of Araelia and her thoughts and emotions. Such is life that we have these dreams but then we squelch those dreams our of fears of what other people might think or say. On the one hand that is bad as we should follow our dreams and not let others bring us down. But on the other hand is simple reality - much as we hate to admit it the opinion of others can matter in life - physical, mental, and emotionally - for good or bad.

A great little side-story and some added insight into this intriguing and somewhat sad character.

Thanks hon. Yes, it is reality and we do all do this. I remember when hubby and I travelled all the way around the world to the States, went on a jazz cruise in New Orleans then sat and watched everyone else get up and dance... but didn't join them for fear of looking like fools. And of all the memories I take away with me of New Orleans, this is the predominant one for me.

      Sad huh?

Anyway, thanks and glad you enjoyed the tale.

It happens - one reason I always danced at the clubs by myself. Weird - I didn't care what people thought of me enmass for dancing by myself on a crowded dance floor .. yet the idea of asking someone I was attracted to, to actually dance with me ... was beyond me.

Well maybe, then, you should let Araelia actually say screw the other people and dance in that dress - maybe it will be cathartic for you

Maybe... but first I need to let someone in to touch Araelia's life and let her know that scars or not, she's beautiful.

Thanks - because of the fact that this story probably will sound familiar to a lot of people - and if not, well , good for you (read it again).

I didn't realise it at the time but yes, I think you're right. We all let other peoples opinions hinder us...

Thanks dear; I'd love to see some of your girls twirling in this dress! Maybe that's who Araelia could sell it to?
