Excellent work on everything, from the images and music, to your great fan-fic writing style, which always manages to get my mental juices flowing, especially after a mind-blowing day at work when I'm feeling drained and 'zombie-like' afterward.

I really like your idea of the Skeleton Key being capable of acting as a conduit between realms. Hmm, this gives me some possible (and nefarious) plans for future events...;-)

Kudos for the inspiration, my friend!

Thanks DoC! I think it is less of a conduit and more a "key" to open up a gateway/portal between realms. It is the nature of the key actually - it is a very powerful artifact. Glad you enjoyed the story and got some ideas out of it

A very fine wrap up to an immensly enjoyable tale. I really like Grim's handling of Lucia (I think I might have said this in past chapters) and though my initial reaction of him sending her to the TG was like Erik's (WTF?) I think his explanation for why she should go is on point. She WILL need to learn skills to protect herself in Skyrim (who knows this better than the horror responsible for killing and maiming so many of her own characters!! ). Plus with the added bonus of all those protectors she's probably in the safest place one could be to grown up in SKyrim.

Love the way you show rapid quest progression via the Captain's letters (though I would love to read the WHOLE quest in your writing style... but I know, time constraints)! It was beautiful to read the mentions of other heroes (and anti-heroes) in Skyrim; Laughing Fox, Dannee and the villanous ZuZu. I'm so looking forward to the massive crossover piece you're working on. What a wonderful idea for community togetherness and spirit.

You're a true credit to the Nexus Jon.

    PS: Images = wow!

PPS: Ominous feeling re Erik's final thoughts about Grim's loss of humanity and sliding into the Fenrir persona... I got a shudder when I read that...

Thanks Jess! Glad you though Lucia was handled ok. I was nervous about that. Oh I know people who don't care much about people might send a kid out on the streets or sell them or the like ... but Grim is a good guy. Yet he has a lot of contacts in the Guild and she would be well protected there. Plus there is one more very good reason for sending her there ... okay two ... but I have not written about that.Chapter one of Book 3 (which I started today) will reveal one of the reasons though.

Aye time is tight and if I tried to write up every quest he did they would get rushed and not be as good IMO. So I write the ones I enjoy and have a passion for ... in the hopes that it is reflected in my writing. Right now I am working on two large projects - the Unraveling story, and starting up Book 3 for Grim (which I have some cool surprises in store for but also will need to do some modding work again).

Glad you enjoyed the shots! I had fun taking them with my newly tweaked preset

Your PPS has some truth to it ... this time I am afraid things will get a little darker for Grim. I had my "fluff" break with Lucia which I actually really enjoyed (Nataly is rubbing off on me I think) but I want to get back to writing full stories focused directly on Grim and what he is doing. Hopefully something like the DB saga as far as intensity. Just got to find the energy as school opens next week - and while I am not a student I work at a Univ. which means work is going to get very busy again.

Wonderful chapter my friend, so atmosferic and letterary very deep. I need to retake the old part of this book, but I really appreciate this part. The characters are really well played, and Lucia is awesome.

My thanks Faravat for reading through my somewhat fluffy story this time around with Lucia - glad you enjoyed how I portrayed her. I have big plans for her actually - but doubt I will ever find the time to really write her story (and Hroars, who will be her "brother" of sorts). I will explain a bit more on that when I do the first chapter of Book 3 which I started on today ... but will take some time to do.

Wow wonderful work!! Love how he was recanting the story to Lucia like that, taking a trip through memory as it is! And loved the bit about Lucia joining the thieves guild that was masterful in a three way conversation there with one of them being a small child. perfect!

-I've never done that quest so that skeleton key looks pretty cool to me

It looks way cooler in-game even if you only have it for a short while (unless you want to be like Mercer and never return it ... however Grim always honors a contract so that wasn't an option for him). Glad you enjoyed the story!

An amazing work Wolf!! The way you carry your tale makes it seem like you are right there with Lucia listening. And I think I was as delighted as Lucia to finally see Lady Nocturnal (VERY well done btw)
And the adventure goes on (With some interesting foreshadowing)
    Absolutely loved this!!! More! More!

Lol ah thanks AoK. If a friend comes through for me I think you (and many others like DoC) are going to be rather happy with a new character to be introduced into Grim's stories in Book 3 :-)

    Well done my friend.
And as seedy as the Thieves Guild may seem, they house a treasure trove in valuable lessons and training..... their stories only make them closer.
A perfect place for an adventurous girl like Lucia to go.

Long but very enjoyable it was..... well written and the images all so well done.

    Great chapter again Jon!
I like how Grim acts with Lucia. He talk in a...hmm, adult is the wrong word...it think "grown up" explains it better, way to her, and that`s how we should talk to children in my opinion, cause i never liked this "mehmehmeh" talk with kids. They understand more than we think, cause they understand not only with her brain, but with all their senses.
I fully agree with Grim to show her very early how to protect herself. Skyrim is not the place for having just a picnic. It`s a hard land and dangers are everywhere.

After the images with Nocturnal i wonder if i should play the Thieves Guild again. I played it in my very first playthrough, and it bored me to intimidate innocent people, but the quests with Mercer and Nocturnal could change my mind, and i have not seen the Skeleton Key since a very long time.

I´m just as anxious as Erik that Grim could loose his humanity one day, cause to engage with so many Daedric Princes can be very dangerous, and i really hope, Erik is able to hold him on the ground.

Wonderful ending.......... lost of tie ups in this chapter and so nice to see Grim and Erik at home........ and Lucia seems like such a cute child...........but at almost 13 not a child in Skyrim..... and Grim is right time to teach her how to take care of herself........ I know Erik wants her to have a child hood but no always possible in a world as dangerous as Skyrim.

She will need to have skills in time........ for I also fear that there is much danger ahead for Erik and Grim and their path .........

Amazing shots in the Pilgrims Path, like how he did not kill anymore then he needed as truth ....... no idea what could happen for them when the key is returned ......

I also as Nataly did enjoyed the subtle nod to the story of Edrelle, the Laughing Fox and reference to ZuZu fate from Rathe's tale. Al playing a part in some way in life in Skyrim.

Amazing ending and yours shots were awesome.... gods they just get better and better........

Can not wait to see what you have planned for chapter 3.............. sure it will be very interesting and so much enjoyment will be taken from reading it as have been all of these chapters.......

Many, many thanks for reading this chapter Shelley! You are right in that Erik wants her to have a more idealistic childhood. One that is more carefree and safe from danger. But in this world that is very hard to do and one has to accept that by Grim adopting her he has placed her in some danger. Of course she may have also died on the streets ... so best to not dwell on what ifs and instead focus on what can be done.

Pleased you liked my shots in the path and all the little details I added on the story as well as all my stories! I have plenty of plans for chapter 3 - now I just need to find the time to work on them!
