I'm interested to see where this mission takes the trio; even though I love Sam (Sanguine) I still mistrust he cheeky old fella and wonder how much trouble Grim and Erik are going to get into on the way to find the strawberry grove!!
As for your challenge... Rathe looked into the shimmering basin and instantly the waters began to boil and writhe. The colour seemed to change in hue from clear and pure to sullied somehow. He began to recoil in horror; it was true! He had no beauty within him! But then, suddenly, the water cleared. The room seemed to silence and become still. A reflection formed in the pool. No, not a reflection; a vision... of an auburn haired girl with grey blue trusting eyes. She was at once beautiful and innocent and trusted him with her life, her love... her very soul. The beauty within Rathe, was Fleur.
Thanks for the invite to do this hon!!
The basin of Dibella and the water was my own twist to the lore but I think water and beauty go well together - they are connected in many ways. But with the basin in the middle of the room it was begging to be used in some way. Plus the water of beauty has one more mission to achieve and not the one that everyone is expecting either that will be shown very soon as I finish chapter 20, which is what I am working on now and extremely excited about.
Many thanks for partaking of the challenge and the feedback!
Chapter 20 is about 4/5 done as far as writing - tonight or tomorrow night most likely unless something comes up.
Appreciate the feedback and glad you enjoy my stories and images!
I loved the visions in the pool!
Now! What the hell is Sam up to????
Hmmm...were my characters allowed, (As if)
The DD: would see an ancient hunter laughing into the face of a great storm.
Ripp: would see herself as a great pink Dragon, greater then Alduin, swooping down on her enemies, until she drove out or killed all the peoples of Skyrim, returning the lands to the animals and wild folk alone.
Dr Liche: LMAO! He would probably see himself standing atop the highest tower of the greatest temple in all the lands. Of course the temple would be made of sand, and there's a big wave coming...
Awesome work Wolf!
Your characters would be allowed, beauty is amoral even if it is often seen as "good". Most people consider the beauty within themselves to be a good thing - it is good in the sense of being a positive aspect of the person but not good as in good/evil. Hence the beauty of DD is that he is the epitome of the perfect hunter, as one example.
Hard to pick a favorite character even Although I think it would be interesting what Teyla might see in such a vision! Something along the lines of a gargoyle perhaps? As gargoyles are ugly and scary but supposed to protect from evil. Something like a little lost demoness with a heart of gold..
Personally, I think the story and images were fairly well-balanced myself, and you've done a good job of keeping your writing descriptive, yet to the point, which is not always an easy task.
I found it very endearing, Wolfgar looking into the pool of water and seeing only the purity of himself -so innocent, but ready to defend his dear friends with ferocity in the face of a danger.
As to your question about Dibella's Water of Beauty, most of my favorite characters are tormented and/or evil (for RP reasons), so I'm not too sure if I can define any 'beautiful' qualities that they would see in themselves. However, thinking about it a little bit more, I suppose Shizana of The Blades would see the beauty of honor and determination to help mankind in herself. ;-)
Appreciate the feedback very much. I tend to want to always provide a lot of detail, like in a story, but I can't in this medium. But I don't want to be so short that people are left thinking I am leaving big plot holes or missed some obvious point. Ah well I do the best I can with the goal to be shorter instead of longer when the option exists.
Perfect
Grim that two did not surprise me so much... he is a great man with many wonderful things in his favor but he does have a darkness he is born from the line of a prince...... but I think he has over come that and is truly a good man who only wants the best for others.
The visions the priestess had not normal for a one in her station.... strange indeed ... wonder if this has something to do with Grim's mother maybe.
Now to answer your question.... What would my Ambrosia see if she looked in that pool.... She would see a darkness as Grim saw not that of a wolf but of the blackness of the void... one she will never quite get rid of as it is her birthright.... but she would see more then darkness.......she would see honesty.... for even in her darkest hour she is honest to herself.......and those around her about what she truly is.........
So Ambrosia see's honesty as her most beautiful trait - that is a good thing :-)
I really enjoyed this part of the tale, it is nice to see discussions about the beauty of Skyrim, as Grim said, there are so many beautiful thing in Skyrim...
I always enjoy learning about the gods of Skyrim and nice to see that you know well the lore of the game.
Erik young pure and gentle man, a man of the earth, that's how I always consider Erik, glad Dibella is of the same opinion. Grim as it is for exactly how I see it, despite a dark side it is a good and honest man, but the dark side is probably also part of his misfortunes.
Great Chapter and beautiful images, I love the last pictures in this beautiful "blue" night and the image of the moon, and its description, "moons slowly sinking into the mountains behind the branches of an ancient tree" this is just magnificent, the trees are an incredible majestic, great immobile being seeing so many seasons, many years pass, they are the heirs of the time.
“Ah the beauty of animals is that they wear no masks. Your wolf companion’s true beauty is that he is purely himself.” That is also a great quote, so true!
Your question is very interesting and if Frankhof should look in the water he would fair a man very close to a wolf, protective of everything he loves, brave and loyal.
His strength and courage would be unbeatable if someone wants to hurt the people he loves.
But it would also see an incredible loyalty and sincerity in the depths of itself would be reserved for the woman of his life, he would also see nature and animals, because they are the most important for him to respect in life, the foundation of respect.
I think Grim and Frankhof are alike in many ways
Whenever I write a story I will check information on various wiki and fan sites so I know I am somewhat close to the lore. I know about Dibella but I wanted to make sure I wasn't stomping over her lore to much. It is one of the things I enjoy - as TES lore has had a lot of time to get very in-depth and detailed.
I agree, Frankhof and Grim do have many things in common which is nice to know as Frankhof is a good man. I enjoy learning more about him as you continue to write about him - which you do very well, I like your stories a great deal.
Glad you enjoyed my images, especially the night shot with the moon - that was one of my favorites as well.
Sorry for missing a lot of your work, real life has been a bummer these weeks.
