I have the same problem problem as Tedios, I wanted to add a few and I forgot to save the original file. Wolf can you post (or someone else here) the original portraits folder ? Or a is there a link somewhere ?
haha, i already mentioned that but it looks like we're having comments deleted if we "Inappropriately" expose how the portrait system actually works, its just like the old bg modding days! but yes you don't need to replace anything, just need the _sm and _lg tags in the filename for small and large and they will show up automatically during the portrait selection screen, the only time you need to replace stuff is if you want to replace npcs portraits or your own portrait in a save game. (at least until they add the ability to change that on the fly in-game)
Do you know how many you have to rename to do this? It's very time consuming, especially for someone that has joint issues and can't type for too long, or it hurts a lot.
This is great. However some of them don't look like the character at all no matter what you do. Especially the Fire God-Like that looks like it's got Horns. I think that one shouldn't have been changed. I have to re-download the archive from GOG to replace that one. There needs to be more more of these. Or maybe a mod that lets you use the in game world graphics to create a portrait in game for your character, and generate portraits for every person based on their looks in the game world. I'm sure it could be done, just like in MMORPGs where you have 3D portraits, except don't have them move, or be animated at all and have them saved in a specific place in the folders, so we can find them and style them in Photoshop or similar software to make our own version of a portrait.
Edit: There is a problem I'm having with this. It will not let me see all of them. I have the main version installed, and the update as well. I replaced everything, but it just won't let me access all of them. I can only access 66 of them. And it's very limited to the amount of portraits I can choose that look like they belong to the particular race that I am choosing.
Pretty nice - together with vanilla pics, this few already available mods and own work (it's pretty easy to edit pics and rename them to get, for example, Persona 3 team everybody can find something for her/himself

Artastrophe did an amazing job with her portraits for BG: EE. It's extremely nice of her to let you do this for PoE. So thanks to you and Artastrophe for sharing this. Oh and Artastrophe it would be wonderful if you did portraits for PoE, but I know that is a lot to ask. I just really love your artwork!
