A scripted spell that can deal any amount of damage between 0 and 9999 inclusive in any of 6 damage types ( normal, fire, frost, shock, poison, and chaos ). The .esm also includes an additional scripted spell that can deal any amount of magicka damage and thus can be used to simulate variable spell costs ( again with a range of 0 to 9999 inclusive ).
The .esm will not add any spells to the game itself, just to the editor. It is intended as a scripter's resource - something that can be easily adapted for use in many projects.
What is "Chaos Blast.esp"?
The included .esp "Chaos Blast" will cause a spell to be added to the character's inventory immediately after loading a game. This spell was used to test the scripts and demonstrates both the variable damage and cost spells and how to use them. The spell scripts for the Chaos Blast spell ( "ChaosBlastScript" and "ChaosBlastCostScript" are well documented to provide a clear example of how to use the VDS spells.
* This is a BETA version. I'm throwing it out there for feedback. There are probably bugs in it that I am not aware of and I will probably be releasing new versions as necessary. Since the .esm file names act as dependency specifiers for .esps the version number will be appended to the zip file rather than to the .esm itself.
