Heh, I realize this comment is coming more than 13.5 years after the last update, but I was just wondering if this mod could be updated so that it levels items in a container instead of just the ones in your inventory, e.g., the chest I put my weapons in, the chest I store my armor in, etc.
Mind you, I have no idea how to create or edit a mod nor do I know how inventory works under the hood in TES, so in my head (which most likely could be wrong), this sounds like an easy enough modification to the mod assuming that our inventory is treated the same way as the inventory of containers and it would be a simple matter of being able to "target" the mod at a container in addition to ourselves, sort of like a self versus target spell.
As a note, I haven't downloaded and installed the mod yet, so this may actually already be the way this mod works. Just going off of assumptions based on the description, it sounds like it only updates things that are in my current inventory, so I'm assuming I'd have to collect the item from storage each time I want it to level or keep it in my inventory until it is leveled to its max.
while I cant say for sure, it's safe to assume that once you put the item on you character and walk around for a bit, this mod will then update it, so i don't imagine there would be any point for it to do it in the chests.
It literally changes *two* spells, spells that are given as Quest Rewards and therefore become useless if you earned them too early, just like any other Quest Reward. If you don't want that, why do you want your other rewards to level? AULIAS also uses OBSE for improved implementation, is free of dirty edits and is much more stable. If the old QAL is working fine for you then that's cool, but AULIAS is better in every way.
Nope, your recommendation just cost me 15 minutes of my life because the mod you've linked too is either broken or incompatible with one/some of the most common mods. I'll also stick to the original leveller.
Would be cool if you made getting the leveled item via a quest or some out of the way design. e.g. I have a level 15 chillrend but my character is lv 20. So instead of just automatically getting the lv 20 chillrend, Id have to go get say a sigil stone or varla stone to sacrifice to level up the item.
@Grinnar: Zachski is right about this one. While NMM is indeed a fantastic tool, it's not designed to work with Oblivion mods. You will get yourself into a lot of troubles if you install mods with it.
When you install a mod with NMM, doesn't it just put it into your data folder? So wouldn't the results be the same as if you had manually unpacked the mod into your data folder? so if the mod's install instructions are simply "extract into data folder" you should be fine. I can see it being a problem with mods that have a more complicated install procedure.
I always download the mods manually, fixes the files and folders if necessary, repack them into a rar file if i did, and uses the NMM to install and sort load order.
I did not install this mod through wrye bash, but when I open Wrye Bash, it gave an error message about this mod and repeatedly spams me with a popup that says "Modified Dates Reset" and Wrye Bash stops responding and i have to use task manager to close it. I'm not very proficient with Wrye bash and only use it when I have to for bashed patches and such. Anyways, this mod is making Wrye bash unusable and I don't know why.
