This is impossible to install with just your instructions.
    They are not clear enough.

Just try to do this there is no esp to activate as it just atexture replacer and a modders resource

      1. Extract this archive to any folder and then copy the contents to Oblivion's Data folder or use a mod manager program to install

If you still can't get the mod to work give this mod a try
Fine Steel Weapons In Black inserted

Thank you so much for these, the stars must have aligned, or this is one MASSIVE coincidence; because not to long ago (2014) I was looking for a black retexture for specifically the Fine Steel Weapons, because they are my favorite looking set. I had tried making it myself back when I was inexperienced with modding, and they ended up looking terrible.
EDIT: Yeah I remember wanting a black retexture back in 2014, and seeing as how this was uploaded in 2015, no wonder why I missed it :p

    This doesnt work.

The install instructions, on the description page here, refer to an esp file that is not in the archive file.

    Contradiction:

"There is not esp file as it not needed for a texture replacer mod."

"2. Start Oblivion Launcher, click Data Files, and enable the Fine Steel Weapons in Black.esp file(s)."

This mod simply gives the Fine Steel Weapons a black wood texture instead of the red wood texture. This is only a texture replacer. There are no new meshes with this file. There is not esp file as it not needed for a texture replacer mod.

The best way to install the mod ,which is only a texture replacer, is to insall using obivion mod manager or wrye bash to install.

next time instead of coming out and saying the mod dosn't work why not just ask for help and say your having issues getting the mod to work that way i maybe able to help

I should have been more specific.

I followed the 'manual install' instructions, wich i prefer.
So, ty for replying, but your suggestion is not usefull for me.

I mostly solved the issue myself by manually adding the new textures locations to the ArchiveInvalidation file.
But then the icons for nearly all Steel and Fine Steel Weapons didnt show.

editing ArchiveInvalidation file is a good call.

Any instructions here are just the standard instructions for installing most mods that part of the read me generator I use. So install using manually install should work just ignore the esp file being added. It should have worked without doing thing special as the texture are the same name and file structure as whats packed in the bsa file. Your icons being messed is odd as the texture replace and dose nothing to them.

I'm glad you got it to work

This is actually very nice, but wouldn't want it as a replacer. Maybe you can make it an immersion thing? Like OOO?

Well its done, unfortunately for it to be stand alone, I had to put meshes and textures, all that nonsense, but its done now and I'm uploading, you are the author, I simply made them standalone, nothing more, nothing less.

You should also consider your self as the an author as well as you did create the esp that add them in the level list and put them in there own folders.

But you did the editing and the idea, also got me to publish another file I got the inspiration to do. (There may be a bug with the black steel ones that I uploaded, if I don't include an N.DDS then the textures don't show up right (Learned from previous work I uploaded, its a resource so feel free man!)

yea you'll have to add in n_dds files to your mod. Being in new fold it won't rely on the n_dds file that are in the games BSA files like this texture replacer mod dose.
