Title: Saruman's Tower
Version: 1.1
Author: V-Pacceus

Installation instructions and tips:

1. Extract archive to the game folder;

2. Download and install The Bloke's "Urukhai Race Armor Scimitar Shield and Helmet v1.2"
add-on. It will enable uruks with their equipment and make them work right.

3. If you want to play as mighty wizard Saruman, copy "Saruman.ess"
file to your save folder (commonly: .../My Documents/My Games/Oblivion/Saves/)

*********
THE TOWER
*********
Point 1 will enable Orthanc and everything inside it. The tower is located in
Jerall Mountains, to the west of Bruma, to the east of Ninendava Ruins
& to the south of Echo Cave. To get to the tower without troubles, go from Chorrol
by the Orange Road, then turn left at the Shadow's Rest cavern, and keep to the road,
passing Sancre Tor FR and Ninendava AR. Eventually, the tower will be right ahead.
You don't need a key, it is free to enter.

*********
SAVE FILE
*********
The save file has no quests completed and it is just like the new game. You
will start at the Arcane University location at level 30 with all Saruman's
master skills.

********
URUK-HAI
********
There are totally 6 uruk companions. 4 of them are just called uruk warriors,
you can find them resting at the Grey Mare tavern in Chorrol. In the tower,
you'll find 2 others: the Orthanc Guard and Berserker. The last one is locked
up in the cage at the 2nd floor of the tower. To release him, you need to find
a key to the cage.

Uruks can carry out 3 orders: following, waiting, and resting. The "rest"
order will make them return to their initial places. The exception is
berserker: he will go to the tavern with other uruk warriors.

Saruman has 4 lesser power spells which change uruks' behavior from passive to
very aggressive.

All of the uruk companions are mortal. But if one dies, he should respawn at the
initial location after some time.

*********
THE STAFF
*********
The staff of Saruman will be initially in your inventory. If you play not as Saruman,
you will find it in the tower, near the throne. This item is not so common as you may think.
It has 4 effect modes: fire ball, telekinetic wave, alteration mode and melee mode. Also it
provides some passive abilities when equipped. To switch between modes you need to "drop"
the staff from your inventory (press shift+click) and then there will be a message box that
suggests you to choose any mode.

P.S. As a conclusion, the staff is literally impossible to actually drop.
Anyway, why get rid of such a wonderful item?

Yet, there IS a method to remove the staff from your inventory: if you come up
to the throne in the tower and drop the staff there, it will be just left near the throne
in a cute position.

Some tips:
1. Initially, Saruman already has the rank of Master Wizard in the Mages Guild.
2. There is an NPC for Grima the Wormtongue, another character from LOTR, who helped
Saruman and eventually betrayed him. (I don't know how will he behave this time)
3. You can travel to the pinnacle of Orthanc by using the spell "Tower Portal Word".
Saruman initially has this spell, but if you're not him, search for a spellbook
in his study.
4. In Saruman's chamber, there is a chest which contains approximately 382k gold.
5. In the tower, you can find rare items, make spells and enchant items using personal
altars.
6. Grima lives in the basement, which you can enter through the hatch near the tower.
7. There are certain bugs connected to the staff's mechanism. For example, when all your
items are taken from you (like in a jail), the message box shows up and proposes to
choose an effect mode. (The staff is with you all the time)
8. In the first 2 modes of the staff (Fire Ball & Telekinetic Wave) there is an
effect of pushing targets away.
9. In the "Alteration" mode there's an effect of "breaking-in", which resets some objects'
animation (like traps, etc.) and opens distance-controlled doors.
10. In the "melee" mode the staff turns into a blunt weapon and deals shock damage.
11. Each staff mode has its own charge of 6400. It means that you'll need 16 grand soul
gems for full-charging. (Mainly all spellcosts were calculated automatically)
12. Berserker is basically more aggressive than other uruks, so it may result in some cases.

Thanks to:
heavywaters for Saruman's Staff model (his original mod is "Staff of Saruman by AC");
The Bloke for his Uruk-hai race, armor, and weapons models;
mandarinn for the Uruk-hai helmet which he originally made for the game Skyrim;
taylorsd for his "Equipable Beards";
to me for making everything else, including the tower.

!!!
The mod generally has aesthetic character, it is devoted to "The Lord of the Rings" topic and
doesn't pretend to be very balanced. So don't expect from it what isn't supposed to be in it.
Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy!
