Heya, maczopikczo! This is the best way to celebrate my gaming rig rising from the dead (didn't even get into BIOS!).

I have been jogging around a bit in Ubanga, nose close to the ground, and have already made a pleasant traveling acquaintance (her name is Rocksdirtmoss Something, really nice). Since the new archive has got Cyrodiilian textures only, I'm assuming that we Ubanga travelers are supposed to keep the stuff from the "old" archive (is it really from 2014? gosh, time's running), and overwrite with this new one?

In regard to the concurring terrain shaders from Detailed Terrain vs those from Oblivion Reloaded (see discussion under Imperial Roads, mod 46744) -- do you have a recommendation? On my short trip in the northern part of Ubanga (where Al is using mainly the Cyrodiil textures) I have been using OR's shader. Seems to work fine there.

    EDIT "terrainhdrocksdirtmoss01su", that's the name. super ^^

Gee, long time no see! So, you're a fellow necromancer. My computer was dead too, for a couple of months, and it should really retire long time ago, but I managed to bring it back to life, so there's still a few months (years?) ahead of it.

I'm happy to read you like the new textures, and yes, you're right - old Ubanga-friendly package should be installed first with the new one on top of it. I've decided to focus on vanilla textures first, but I'll get back to Ubanga, and give it a nice make-up sooner or later. That land is so awesome it deserves the best textures I can make. My dream is to actually give it some quests (if Al is open for such propositions), or even a full fledged plotline independent from Al's. But this is some hazy, distant future...

As for DT shaders, I'm not sure how they fare these days. One day it looks like they've been disabled by OR or ENB, the next day they seem fine. Without a better rig I'm really not in a mood (and not capable enough) to investigate. For now I usually make textures without DT in mind, but in the end I'll adapt them, provided DT shaders do work as intended.

If you'd like to look it up, both Bravil dirt road textures are DT friendly. You can check how they blend with neighbouring textures. If the two overlap with gradient opacity then DT is not working, but if single rocks and pebbles on the edge of the road can be seen on top of the other texture (e.g. grass, or dirt), then you'd make me happy.

Btw, in the new Nexus page layout, the Ubanga _requirement_ stands out very much, fending off potential new customers ...

Thank you Tesa for pointing it out to me. Obviously Ubanga is wholeheartedly supported, but by no means required to run these textures. You do know that I make these skins especially for you, don't you? ;P I still remember how happy you were to see that snow actually twinkles in the sun...

... But I'm always happy to share. Yes, the snow, and the muddy path, and the daisies on the lawn, .. I'm glad that you're now putting the puzzle together piece by piece. In case you'd like to see a couple of random DT vs. WYS screenies in my OR setup:

It's possible to use Nexus Mod Manager?

Technically yes, but if nothing's changed in NMM it discerns between capital and small characters. I've always stayed away from NMM as it's the worst mod manager for Oblivion (it's okay for newer games though, I've heard, just not Oblivion, whose mods are usually waaaay older than NMM), so I wasn't paying attention to this aspect of naming the files. This means you may (and probably will) end up with duplicate folders - one with capital letters, the other without - and the engine will go bonkers. It just won't know which folder is the right one. You could fix it by opening vanilla textures bsa, unpacking this mod somewhere safe, comparing the spelling, and renaming the files in the mod, correcting capital letters where necessary. In the end you repack the mod and install it with NMM. Is it worth the trouble? Considering that you shouldn't use NMM for Oblivion at all, I don't think so, but it's absolutely possible with enough spare time and determination.

I strongly recommend you try to learn the basic functions of Wrye Bash. It's really far less daunting than it seems at first sight.

Wow, lubronbros, I'm terribly sorry for not replying to your PM. (One of the worst things about me is that I keep postponing correspondence until it's too late... Very bad habit, I know.) Anyway, in the end I saw you deleted the mesage and uploaded the mod, so I gathered that you found the solution. I'm happy you did. Unfortunately I can't try your mod yet, because this laptop I'm on is a typewriter that even my phone laughs at, so I've got to keep the setup as slim as possible. But one day I'll be sure to give that enhanced arena a go.

I'm not really surprised you never knew about this retexturing project I'm working on here. I haven't advertised it because it's just a handful of landscape textures, and they are incomplete yet - even if they feature quite prominently in Cyrodiil. I'll reupload it one day when it's finished, and give it proper publicity then. For now I'm mainly looking forward to other people's honest input on these textures. Let me know which ones you like, which you don't, and why, and maybe upload some images (something that TesaPlus kindly specialises in...)

Anyway, many thanks for nice words about this project, and remember it's only an early alpha with many more textures to come, and some of them to be replaced with updated versions. I'll try to upload updates more frequently.

hahah that's typo XD ... I suggest better call me L - it's much shorter and happier me :D
yeah I did delete that pm because of two reasons... my inbox is cluttered so much, and the other reason is the quest is completed~
      I see... no prob friend,
      deep condolences to your machine,
no worries about Greed Arena your thought about want to test it later is already considered nice feedback for me. Thanks !
      well...
if you need minimalist setup. then I want to remind you about Greed Vision - this could increase performance + fps a bit and IMHO give Oblivion a better detection system~
      images ?
      that's easy and I'm willing
      here you go --> https://imgur.com/a/9yzKd
my preferred visual for landscape and terrain is Lush and Gaudy. so I deleted all of your grass texture, and I enjoy your... :
      - crater and mountain area, I prefer your WYS rather than DT and rather than vanilla. that rough feeling is so gooood
      - mud and coast, this wet looking texture is very enticing. I just love it in my first try !!
      - dirt & rocky, I like WYS dirt better than any other alternative retextures mod

Hi, mate, and thanks for the images. I want to see them in other gamers' setups so that I know which things look good only on my computer, and what's generally acceptable. It also lets me pinpoint potential problems - like in case of that mud I should rethink shadows so that concave objects don't look convex in certain lighting conditions and vice versa. As for the other pair, are you sure the WYS version looks like this, or have you uploaded both vanilla textures by mistake? It shouldn't look like vanilla. I've got to double check the package...

Sorry, correction. The title is very wrong, it's not vanilla at all. That's from Lush & Gaudy Landscape mod plus many others (Qarls, Grass Overhaul, LG Floriana)
Cool!! it's so detailed and you have deep appreciation towards all of this landscape textures. So that beautiful wet mud can still get upgrade huh? Oh wow...
Yep, I'm pretty sure it's from your mod. Because I use MO for my mod manager, very easy to active deactive things.

      Hi Denny,
Oh yes, I actually enjoy making new landscape textures so much that I guess this might be a neverending project. By now I know so much more about textures that the oldest ones should be replaced asap. I guess that by the time I'm done with those I'm going to be wiser again, and will start all over. (I actually already started experimenting with sculpting the textures...)
As for images, I'm afraid mine are such low resolution that I'm kind of ashamed to upload them anymore. I really should think of a new computer...

This is a really underrated piece of work. Most of these are up there with the more popular texture replacements available; shame it seems to have fallen off the map these days.

In any case, very well done, and thanks!

Thanks for your encouraging opinion. I don't worry about this mod hovering under the radar for now, because it's incomplete, and more often than not - a result of my wild experiments. I treat it as the training ground for new methods of creating normal maps in particular. When it's complete - and it may happen any time - I'm going to give it a proper release.
With that said, I'm happy to hear you like the direction this mod is taking.

As time allows I'm going to fill in gaps and cover the whole ground in Cyrodiil and Ubanga, so it's worth popping in every now and then to see if there's something new here

Psst... The same snow - but enhanced - can be found in Nice Ice...

@ Tesa+ Thank you so very much again. I appreciate the praise - who doesn't like to wallow in it? ;P - but I appreciate constructive criticism even more. That's why I'm grateful to you for pointing out any ugly parts. Indeed, the trash here looks horrible in that spot. I'll have to keep it in mind for the next release. The current package still has a few test textures which aren't quite as polished as they should, so please, keep me updated with anything you dislike here so that I can improve where necessary

    not complaining n_n only telling

The trash texture which is doing so well in every other place is checkerboarding near Maranta (when you leave Maranta Port southwards, near this very special watchtower, you know the place: near the slums -- it stinks X-D). See my screenie from today.
