I guess it's because departing from strict lore (but not as far as to create a totally new plane) gave the author's creativity vast freedom of choice. I'm sure that as soon as anyone attempts to revive parts of original Tamriel, there's a lot of discussion concerning what it can be and what it can't. Ubanga is an experiment with wild, unleashed imagination and creativity, a projection of ALAnonim's fantasies of merged African/South European microcosm; a self-contained new world in the Elder Scrolls universe, probably like Nehrim or the smaller ones - Windfall, or Zedar. While recreating Iliac Bay (or the whole Tamriel for that matter) would be a great and tempting idea, endless discussions about their lore was what killed the vast majority of projects that undertook it. Thankfully Ubanga is free of any inside speculations about the lore. It simply can have its own lore that intertwines in places with original Tamriel. I'm more than curious to see how it develops.
And wizardsmith - what you did is so great! I'd love it to be just the first of many additions/patches that build on ALAnonim's work. As soon as I'm done with my current RL project, I'd like to contribute. I'm sure I'm able to if time allows.
I think you should rename Ubanga Doors, so as not to overwrite my Ubanga Doors 1.8.3 It is only advice and not a necessity. (These rules are generally accepted.)
