It may have to do with my setup, but I have uninstalled the high res version again because those billboards apparently were just too crisp and vibrant and stood out too much from the distant terrain as well as distracted from the foreground. They also caused some texture flickering, which was less noticeable with the normal res version.
Version 1.2 fixes everything I mentioned in the previous comment. It's looking fantastic now & should be the included version with the original Enhanced Vegetation mod as it matches the distant and nearby tree coloring much better than the ones included in the original mod.
Kudos to Xtudo for the work that went into these! I personally use the medium res versions for vRAM reasons (512MB) and also because the high resolution ones look more detailed than the close trees on my system, and can make the background seem quite noisy in areas with many trees because of all the detail.
I got this mod because I noticed how the trunks would change color suddenly when changing LOD and I thought to myself this would be the perfect fix..
Though in the end I couldn't endorse this file because it has a bug that the original "Enhanced Vegetation" overcame in it's 1.1 version.
On distant trees there is a distinct thin black outline around the trees, it almost looks like the edge effect shader from OBGE (though much more subtle). This can make the trees look like cut-outs in high contrast situations and is a bug that was in the original mod as well, but was fixed:
"1.1, 2009/04/14 -Fixed a texture mipmap problem which caused thin dark edges on distant trees"
(from the Enhanced Vegetation readme file)
Don't get me wrong-- I loved that you acknowledged the shortcoming from the original mod with the trunk colors being mismatched, but I can't endorse or use this mod until the black outline issue is resolved, it just makes the LOD trees look worse than the original in most situations.
Confirmed this is an issue with both the high resolution and normal resolution versions.
