Description:

Adds automated armor repair and weapon recharge for companions. Use the spell provided "Companion Repair Spell" to add a new item to your companion which makes it possible for them to repair/recharge equipped items.

Details:

Companions must be given repair hammers if you expect them to repair items. Repair hammers will break and be removed for the companion just as they are for the player. Companions will gain experience for repairing their equipped items. It takes about 100 hammers to get a companion from lvl 5 armorer to lvl 25 armorer. With every new rank in armorer like, novice, apprentice, journeyman, and so on they will use less hammers. At Expert Armorer they can repair items to 125%, and at master they wont break hammers anymore, but still need to have one for the repair to work.

If your companion has enchanted armor or weapons they will not be able to repair them until they reach the level of journeyman armorer (lvl 50).

If your companion has an enchanted weapon they will use soulgems to recharge it. You can give them soulgems that have already been filled by you, or ones you find already filled, and they will use them. You can also give them empty soulgems and a weapon enchanted with soul trap and they will fill their own gems, and then use them to recharge their weapon.

Companions will check their equipped items about one time every minute of real time game play, and repair/recharge any items that need it, provided they have hammers/gems. Companions will not repair items while in combat.

This mod will repair their items in real time, not just set the items to max health in an instant. You can see this happening if you open their inventory while they are repairing. You might see an item's health at 80%. If you close out their inventory for a few seconds then check again it may be 90%, or 91%, whatever. The rate at which they repair is largely controlled by your games frames per second.

When your companion reaches lvl 50 Armorer they will be able to enchant weapons beyond their base charge lvl.

Notes:

A few words on soulgems. If you give your companions soulgems that you find already filled in the game world they will be used as expected. However if you give them empty soulgems to fill, or ones you have filled yourself, they will be replaced with the equivalent soul level base object. For instance if you give your companion 5 grand soulgems with petty souls in them, if the companion uses one of them it will be removed and 4 petty soulgems with petty souls will be returned to their inventory. This is due to a scripting limitation of handling stacked filled soulgems. So the size of the gem will change to match the soul inside basically.
