This is an updated version of Taurucis' Enchantment Removal mod. I re-released it as v2 with some added functionality and bug-fixes, with the original author's permission. Current version still has some known issues with pre-existing apparel items.

What this mod does:

Adds a book "Guide to Enchantment Removal" to the Hrotanda Vale Sanctum boss chamber. When this book is in your inventory, it adds a set of spells that will remove the enchantment from the specified item.

KNOWN ISSUES:

- Due to the way Oblivion works with enchanted apparel (jewelry, clothes, armor) there doesn't appear to be an equitable way to get the proper soul gem level of pre-existing enchanted apparel either originally in the game, or added by another mod. This includes apparel created using a Sigil Stone. Using any of these spells on a pre-existing item of apparel will remove the enchantment, but mostly WILL NOT get you a soul gem of any level. They should work just fine with apparel items enchanted in the game.

COMPATIBILITY:

Other than the known issues above, I know of no compatibility issues. It was specifically made to work correctly with mods that change the Soul Level Value settings. I run a fairly heavily modified game, and have noticed no outstanding issues.

INSTALLATION:

Put the .esp file into your Data folder, and activate it in your Data Files.

This mod requires OBSE v0020 and Oblivion v1.2.0416

Changelog:

v2.1:
-
- No longer disenchants all identical items, unless the item was somehow duplicated after disenchanting or using an enchantment altar.

v2: (WDP):
- Change so that spells only exist in your spell list when the book is in your inventory; Dropping the book removes the spells, picking it back up adds them again.
- Added a note at the same Hrotanda Vale location which will give a *1-time* chance to recover the book. This was primarily for those who had the old mod, and therefore had the spells permanently in their inventory, so may have dropped or sold the book.
- Soul Gem values have been made dynamic so that this mod will work with others that modify the iSoulLevelValueX settings (such as OOO). This fixed some wonky effects that would occur in such situations (smaller soulgems or larger, usually).
- Fixed a bug where the spell would always create at least a petty soul gem, even if the item isn't enchanted allowing you to create an infinite number of petty soul gems.
- Fixed a related bug that allowed you to repeatedly unenchant an item until you unequipped it, receiving a soul gem of the higher value.
