OBMM called it a mod conflict, so I automatically thought it would be something horrible. Thanks for the explanation.

"Why does this mod conflict with "Realistic Force and Physics V3"? When i activate the shields on back file over realistic force, something called "Nif skeleton" gets overwriten."

The version with shields on back contains a new skeleton.nif file that makes showing the shield on back when riding a horse posible.
I use RealisticForceLow.esp myself and they don't seem
to conflict, even with the new .nif file.

No, it doesn't need OBSE. I've used simple scripts
on the shields.
