The Fireblast tech demo is a mod for oblivion that introduces a new type of spell to the game. The new spell is called Fireblast and it can be purchased from Calindil at the Mystic Emporium in the market district of Imperial City.

Installation: Unzip the esp file into your Oblivion\Data\ directory. From the Oblivion launcher, select Data Files, and double click the Fireblast - Tech Demo.esp file to activate it. You should see an X appear in the box to the left of it. Run the game.


Whats different about this spell:

It inegrates a casting timer and spell interrupt system onto a single target point and click spell.

For this spell the damage is 50, the magicka cost is 35.

The spell's casting time is 3.0 seconds.

If you move while casting the spell, it is interrupted.

if you move, or are moved by combat from the location you started casting the spell, the interrupt system does checks against your destruction skill, your willpower, and your armor class to get a rating for your "Magicka Channeling" skill.

The higher your destruction and willpower the greater your channeling skill.

The higher your armor is, the larger a penalty you will recieve after the destruction and willpower checks. Therefore a pure caster in full cloth with no armor class can get knocked around the most in combat and have the greatest chance of still completing the spell.

This type of spell adds great depth and challenge to the spellcasting system. No longer can you run around shooting spells at the enemies. If you want to cast a spell, you have to stand still for its casting duration.

Casting times, damages, and magicka costs can be tailored to each tier of damage spell creating good balance and scaling, while raising the depth, challenge and fun of the spellcasting system.

Try it out for yourself, get in a few one on one battles, and then in a few battles against multiple enemies. Try it with your armor on, and your armor off. These different circumstances will show the advantages and disadvantages of skills stats and armor (Destruction, Willpower, AC) with the channeling system.

A good tactic to use is to time your spellcasts so you get the greatest chance of a successful cast. Blocking an enemy's attack and then casting immediately afterwards on a recovering opponent is a good tactic.



THIS MOD CHANGES THE SETTINGS OF THE SCRIPT EFFECT MAGIC EFFECT (SEFF). IF YOU HAVE ANY MODS LOADED THAT MAKE USE OF THAT EFFECT WHILE THIS MOD IS LOADED IT WILL CHANGE THE SOUNDS, GRAPHICS, AND BOLTSPEED(to 10x), OF THOSE SPELLS WHILE ITS ACTIVE. THEY'LL REVERT TO NORMAL WHEN YOU UNLOAD THE TECH DEMO.
