This is something that is more than a decade overdue.
Due to real life circumstances, some beyond my control and some self-inflicted, I was forced to give up modding for an extended period shortly after the mod was released. The planned patch which was after half done never made it out.
Windfall will, by design, make alterations based on what the player does. Some of those changes will be seen immediately, other will not be seen until much later in the questline. My documentation on how everything interacted was lost over time. Without it, I was unable to pick up work on the mod again. For that I do apologize. It was my intention to support the mod for at least a couple years after release, as I had done with my Morrowind mods.
Tidus44 recently reached out to me about posting some pdfs with a walkthrough and some spoilers. You will find those in the download section under Misc Files. All credit for those goes to Tidus44.
There was another walkthrough that used to be on Info Barrel. The site has since closed, but someone did post a link to what looks like a saved copy of the section about Windfall. The link is below, it is not as easy to read as Tidus44’s PDFs. But I will re-post it if you would prefer that.
A personal note: My father passed away while the mod was in the making. I left a small tribute to him in the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. I don’t think I even told the other members about. Just wanted to get that out.
To those that did, thank you for playing the Windfall, I do hope you enjoyed it.
I have had this tracked awhile. I played it in 2011 and have been planning a new play-though. I was shocked when I seen there were file updates. Thanks for providing. I'm curious if you also plan on release the patch you mentioned had been in progress, or perhaps a fresh one. Thanks again.
At the very beginning, Jude didn't follow me to the cave and after asking him to follow me a few times, eventually I went alone. Now I've returned from Windfall with the Choice quest in my journal but I can't find Jude anywhere. I need to give him the letter from his father and finish his quest, can someone tell me what to do? Like some spawning console command or fix.
I read in the walkthrough that if both Brend and Stilus surrender that you will be named count. I have completed it without Stilus or Brend dying and yet when I spoke to Glorvin he only named the Hero of Windfall and gave me an ebony weapon of choice. But he did not mention anything about me being able to use the count's room or being the count. He said that he will rule as Regent. So I'm confused. I did everything possible without killing killing anyone. So How do you get to be the count ? If anybody can answer this please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks
That would not be possible without a full review of you actions in the earlier quests that set o increment variables for the ending. Obviously some requirement was done on a less than optimal basis. You will just need to review you memory of earlier quest with the walkthru to see which increment you missed.
If you have skill with the CS, you can look up the quest and global variables involved, set them to you satisfaction with the console, and go back to a save before talking to Glorvin at the end. The place to start would be the dialoque topic which would make you count, and check the conditions for the topic.
Help needed. I have completed the third quest for the righteous ( The Sewer), reported back and have been promoted to Radical. However the next quest giver Marvel Roland is nowhere to be found, not at the inn ,his room or the docks. is there someway I can fix this, perhaps through a console command? Thanks guys.
The walkthrough says he usually can be found at Thirsty Peasant. But if you have trouble finding him, you can use the console command player.moveto <RefID> In this case it would be player.moveto 01049390 (replace the initial 01 with the mod's place in your load order.)
(FormID: 01049390 WFMarvelA NPC_ Marvel Noland)
Probably it'd be best if you saved the game, used the console command to locate the NPC, reloaded the game, and went there to meet him.
Thanks for the assistance maczopikczo. I have tried the console command: player. moveto "02049390"however each time I try this I am told that 02049390 is an incorrect reference. Perhaps you would be so good as to check that reference for Marvel Noland? the 02 is the mod's esm place in my load order. mEANWHILE i am finishing the minor quests and enjoying a well made mod. .
I remember I used to do it quite often, but can't remember now how exactly... But are you sure he's not at the Thirsty Peasant? For me he always sits in his room on the first floor.
Nah! tried everything, spat in his beer, slept in his bed , rummaged through his drawers, ate his porridge, but no show. perhaps anybody else out there playing Windfall could open the console and click on him and pass on his refid. Perhaps I could move the quests on, but I think it takes at least three more to leave Roland! Maybe it was meant to be and I should just go and make my own of Windfall! Still, Tubbia deserves some support! Is'nt it strange? Of all the billions who inhabit the planet, surely someone has a passing acquaintance with that worthy Marvel Noland co The Thirsty Peasant, Windfall, Tamriel.
Okay, I actually fired up the game and... I'm sorry, I've been giving you his Base ID when what he needs is Ref ID (in your load order it's 020170d5). Also the command was slightly wrong. What you need to do is go to 3rd person mode, click your character - at the top of the screen you'll see your name and (your) Ref ID. Without clicking anywhere else type in the console: moveto 020170d5
Should work. I've just tested it. Let me know where he's hiding from you.
Hey Maczo, you are the Man! It worked perfectly. I found Marvel wandering in the north of the island. He was just being attacked by a minotaur which I helped to slay. We had a short chat and he gave me the next quest. So off to work, hi-ho, hi-ho! Thanks again for taking the trouble to help. You deserve to be made a freeman of Windfall.
This mod, along with Dibella's Watch and The Lost Spires, are by far my top most favorite questline mods! In fact, I like this one the most as Windfall is in it's own worldspace and feels like a true medeival adventure quest mod!
Now onto my question! I'm trying to find the NPC whom I'm suppose to turn in Ramonicus items over to for a reward! I know he's somewhere in Windfall, but for the life of me I totally forgot where he was in this playthru! So where is this NPC at exactly and what is his name?
During the Order of the Candle quests you are given a quest (WFhyFQuest) called Once Upon a Time where you are asked to retrieve a skull. During the quest you can contract a disease (Hyreechus Folly Disease). I have cured it 2 times and I don't know if it’s my game or some other mod or what is the cause, but I am now not getting any warning my character has the disease, I just get a popup that says "Your conscience leaves your body. You have died, or worse. Thanks for playing, Come again." and my character dies. It had been a significant amount of game time since I completed Windfall, better than 3 weeks as I had gotten through the Chorral Castle investigation side quest and gotten my reward and I suddenly got this popup window and my character died. I used a cure again, but a few in game weeks later, another popup and my character dies again. I had to disable the Windfall mod as this quest keeps triggering somehow. I’m just posting here as if you have played Windfall and the popup comes up and kills you, at least you know where it comes from. I don’t know why it is happening, just that it is and I can't figure out how to stop it other than by disabling Windfall.
Any update to an in-game solution of avoiding this without disabling the plugin. If you disable the plugin, you will lose all those recorded completed quests and any reward items from those quests.
The disease can be caught by drinking the Hyreechus Folly potion, or praying at the alter in the Ruined Cathedral, or possibly by melee combat with the Hyreechus creature or the other stronger zombies (not the headless ones, except for the Hyreechus creature) inside the Cathedral. I think but am not certain that all the zombies outside the Cathedral are vanilla ones. The disease quest is WFHyFquest The disease is controlled by the quest the disease itself xx003ddf is just a script effect starting the quest and setting variables in it. The 6 stages of the disease are are advanced by the quest, looks like on a 2 or 3 day schedule, with the ill effects levels being applied by adding an ability with 2 fortify attributes and 3 drain attributes (and removing the prior lower stage ability each time) Curing with the console would involve multiple commands setting 2 to 4 variables in the quest and removing the disease spell, and removing whichever disease stage ability you had. Easiest would be to just use the Experimental Potion, find one in the Ruined Cathedral: Chapel Hall or
player.additem xx050d44 1
or, of course, not catching it to begin with. Do not drink a Hyreechus Folly potion and do not pray at the alter in the Ruined Cathedral. If you think you might has missed a message about catching the disease, maybe when melee fighting a zombie, check for drain Agility, Intelligence, Speed effect in your F3 magic journal, last tab, or show WFHyFquest.hasdisease 0 is does not, 1 is does
All the load indexes (xx) will be from the .esm, not the .esp
If you go to "https://web.archive.org/" and search for "Windfall Oblivion" the original website comes up and you can access the forum. This sort of inspired me to create the information documents as not too many know about that website or that some web sites that have been discontinued, but archived, can be accessed.
Bit of me allover the old forum, under my more commonly used internet name, Lefty Scaevola. Now copy pasting post about unresolved bugs, Some of which I can with my meager talents, yet more than I had then at least, fix with the CSE.
Wyre Bash 307 (Standalone) states that Windfall.esp contains dirty edits and needs cleaning. I randomly went to an area of the mod with the CS Extender and those wtf Meshes missing icons were showing up on it? I have the bsa esm and the esp in the Oblivion Data folder.

I'll keep trying to recollect that command.

I love your little side-story to finding him.

EDIT, deleted this part, probably not the best way to proceed. GO to next post
show wfhyFQuest.hasdisease
which will return a 0 or 1
Maybe I will look up quest and spell (disease) IDs tonight.
The disease quest is WFHyFquest
The disease is controlled by the quest

I recall that you had a website with forums when you were created this mod. Is that sire long gone now?
