***Installation***

Download the mod, and using WinRar, WinZip, or a similar program, extract the files into your Oblivion\Data folder. You may be asked about overwriting your meshes and textures folders; go ahead and do so, don't worry, it will simply add the contents of the mod folders to your existing Meshes and Textures folders.

After installing, go to the Oblivion Launch window and select the esp 'Band of Bastards Companion Mod'. Play and enjoy.

>>If there is the off chance meshes or textures end up 'missing' after you have installed, please contact me with as much detail as you can as to what is missing. It is possible I may have missed that texture/mesh and had not included it in the download, but I have tried hard to ensure this does not happen.

***Uninstallation***

Uninstalling may be trickier than installing, as I used meshes and textures from a variety of mods, and in order to maintain mod integrety, provided the meshes and textures through the same file paths as their original mods.

The best way to uninstall is to open the compressed file you downloaded, and look through the folders, find which files were installed and where, and hunt them down in your Meshes and Textures folders.

***Who are the Band of Bastards? aka What does this mod do?***

This mod is simply a companion mod based off of Cutthroat Mods Partners basic mod. Using the CM_Partners esm as the backbone, this mod features six unique NPCs who can join your party. They are the Band of Bastards, a ragtag gang of swords-for-hire either outcast from their own people or chose to leave their more professional lives of the past.

Whatever their reasons, they are quite the odd crew, but compliment each other well, allowing them to tackle many a problem with grace and efficiency. When they aren't bickering or fooling around, of course.

The six NPCs are based off of my Band of Bastards, six characters in the Bethesda Forums Roleplay Siege of Sentinel, of the Immortal Blood Timeline. I tried to reproduce them as best I could, using what little I know of the CS. So this is the Band of Bastards:

>>Hukral Ox-man:
A giant of a Nord at roughly seven feet, he towers a head above even his own kind. Skilled in many weapons and heavy armors, he is a veritable tank of a man, a strong ally and formidable foe. But he is remarkably mild in nature, and intelligent for a Nord. He frequents the small backstreet taverns of the Talos Plaza when not on the job.

>>Jassan Zartuck:
A midget of a Bosmer, Jassan is roughly four foot nine, nearly a head below his own kind, and is near childlike in build. But he takes great advantage of this, and is freakishly fast and acrobatic. He prefers using his assortments of daggers as throwing knives, striking from afar before leaping into battle. He almost always has a cocky grin on his face, and enjoys lounging around the Waterfront's local taverns.

>>Ree'Ja:
The only Khajiit in the Band, he is not as fast as Jassan, or as jolly. But he is equally stealthy and possibly even more combat capable. He wields long, bloody claws, but knows how to use swords as well. He can often be found training himself around the Waterfront.

>>Marshamilia (Marsha):
The female of the Band, this Redguard is unlike her people in that she is relatively adept at Destructive and Restorative magicks. Her favorite weapon is a naginata, a long polearm with a thin bladed crown. She is often training herself around the Arena.

>>Wikrun:
A Rogue member of the Telvanni Great House, Wikrun is adept at the arts of Alteration, Mysticism, and Illusion, but is skilled in other schools as well. He makes a rather lack-luster close combative warrior, however. He is often relaxing in the Arboterium.

>>Christohper:
The youngest Band member, this Breton archer is working to hone his skills. Better with his rapier than his bow, he is also the most inexperienced member, and most anti-social. He is often practicing his archery in the Market District.

***Features***

--Version 1--

>>Six unique NPCs added to the Imperial City.

>>Each NPC character has specially enchanted equipment; this is to both encourage the player to continue the use of the equipment, and ensure the NPCs do not die easily (not good for a strong Merc band to go around dying alot...). The enchantments are all rather minor and weak, but do improve the character. Their default equipment is reflective of the equipment of the characters they are based on.

>>Two new, playable races; Nordic Giant and Bosmeri Dwarf. Used to create the NPCs Hukral and Jassan, they are also playable for the character.

>>Three new classes, playable; Gypsy Mercenary, Procurer, and Telvanni Rogue. They were used to create Wikrun, Marsha, and Jassan.

>>Unique equipment for each character, taken from a collaboration of a variety of mods.

>>Removal of the looting script action from CM Partners, which caused characters to start looting the area after combat. The results of this included everything from missing characters, to enemies nearby being ignored, to running into the heart of a dungeon and getting slain. So in this mod it is ousted. If you want to keep it, just don't activate this mod.

>>Each NPC has a unique combat style, tailored to their personality and weaponry.

***Hopes for the Future***

I am hoping to include in the next version of the mod, unique dialog for each of the BB members, and possibly voice acting but not likely. I want to inject some real character into them through this dialog. However, my dialog skills are weak. If anyone wishes to aid me, please contact me. Thanks.

***Bugs***

Being a simple NPC mod, there aren't many bugs caused by this mod. A majority I found in playtesting can be traced back to the CM_Partners mod.

>>When the NPCs loot armor, weapons, etc. they automatically replace their current equipment, or don't, at random. In some cases this is fine, as Hukral is as good with Blunt as he is Blade weapons. But Ree'Ja switching from a Wrist blade to a Bow and Arrow is a different matter entirely. I am not sure what causes this to happen, and you have to manually remove the offending item to fix the issue.

>>When using the Share option with the Band members, if you close their inventory their enchanted equipment will not take effect. You have to reopen their inventory and close it again in order for the enchantments to activate. I do not know why this occurs.

>>Be careful when using the Party Recall, Party Return commands. I have had horrid luck with these commands, often losing the NPC entirely.

>>With all six of the Band following you, your framerate is quite likely to take a hit, and the game performance will likely drop. This seems to be an issue with the game more than CM_partners. Rumors have it Oblivion does not like you having more than three companions. However, having half the Band Stand Guard and then adventuring might solve this issue.

>>This bug is more my own fault, as I am terrible with scripts. Each NPC has their own unique Combat Style. However, if you change the NPC combat style through the in-game Cm_Partners commands, it is quite likely you will not have the option to revert back to the old Combat Style. However, Aggressive, Defensive, and Passive should all be fine to use.

***Compatibility***

I have yet to find or fathom a mod with which this mod would conflict. But that does not mean it is impossible.

However, this mod should be fully compatibile with the mods from which I borrowed objects. I created unique IDs for each object I borrowed, and they use the same meshes and textures as their parent object. There should be no conflicts. If there are, please contact me.

***Credits***

I would love to give a heaping helping of thanks to these modders, from whom I have borrowed meshes, textures, and scripts to create this mod. Without their creations, the Band would be bland.

Cutthroat Mods: CM_Partners Basic- Without this there would be no mod
Trollf: Armamentarium: Staffs- for the lovely staves, one of which I deemed perfect for Wikrun.
Growlf: Growlfs Animated Hairs- Just one hair was all I needed to make Marsha splendid.
Joe Valenti: Joe's Jeans- the only clothing close to what I needed for Marsha
Jounk33: Jounk's Polearms- The only mod I could find with a reliable naginata-esque weapon.
Grevas: Shields of Antiquity- The only mod I could find with a good shield to call an Aspis
Loth Debonneville & AlienSlof: Slof's Bracelet Collection- For the lovely bracelets for Marsha and Wikrun.
SamVime: SamVime's Throwing Knives- without this mod Jassan would not be the same.
Throttlekitty: Rapier Set- For the amazing rapier I borrowed for Chris
Anchakor: Wristblades- THe only good wristblades I could find, since Ree'Ja didn't like fighting hand-to-hand.

***Modding this mod***

I don't see what reasons one might have for using this mod in their own mod, but if you so desire, be sure to change the IDs in the CS so there are no conflicts, and give me credit, as well as give credit to those whom I borrowed objects from.
