If you find a bug or run into any problems, please:

    1) Re-read the Readme. There's a LOT of info in there!

    2) Use the troubleshooting guide linked in the readme. It can help you solve all of the most common mod problems.

    3) If you've done 1 & 2 and are still stuck, ask for help! I may be semi-retired, but I do check these comment threads.

    4) If you ask for help, stick around to receive it! Admittedly, I'm not the most patient modder if I can tell you haven't read the stuff I've already written out for you, but I'm generally happy to help any way I can if something has gone very wrong. That doesn't do you any good, however, if you post about your problem and then vanish. Help me help you!

Thanks for all the feedback and encouragement over the years. I love y'all. <3

The lair switches aren't present, is this a bug or what do I need to do?

Edit: nvm I found out I had to finish the quest first.

Though now I'm having another, worse issue: the game keeps crashing when loading the basement and then switching to other cells or viceversa, like it's eating big chunks of memory or something...

When Velwyn Benirus reaches the secret sealed portal in basement, he doesn't check the sealed portal with the animation as it was in original. He just stands there and doing nothing.Do you know where could I find the solution to this problem?

The problem is that there is an Idle Animation that needs to be updated.

SearchWall (the idle anim) needs to be updated to use the new door for this mod.

      Change BenirusDoor01 "Sealed Portal"
      To: KhetBBMBenirusDoor01 "Sealed Portal"

I just tested this and it works for me.

Some of the toggle switches in the basement do not work, like the Manor bed and interior door, while others work just fine. Do I have to leave the manor for the switches to take effect or what?

For some reason, during the night it's super dark. Even with ENB disabled, it's very dark...

The daylights turn off automatically, but the candles and everything should be lit to provide some subdued (but very playable) lighting.  Are you using All Natural?  Can you send me your load order?  I would be glad to try to help.

so first want to say i love ur mod as this is my favorite player home next to skingard. unfortunately there where a few bugs i ran into while running test. when u head into the basement velwyn doesn't come thu the same location. it would seem that this mod moves the basement placement so when he spawns hes glitched thru the wall, unfortunately he wasn't the only one, lord benirnus also is fazed thru the wall. this may be my own doing due to the fact im also playing with better cities but i didn't test it. long and short is to wait to install this mod until the quest is done that seemed to solve everything. the last problem also being again probably a result of playing with better cities is the fence not being repaired completely. its weird the break separating from the rest of the fence u added fixed but not the front that connects to the house. this again my be related to better cities, i even tried loading it below without a bashed patch and that still didn't fix the fence. either way love your mod and im still going to use it as i does the main thing fixes most of the fence

Hi!  So sorry for the belated reply!

The readme says:  "If you are using Better Cities, Open Better Cities, Open Cities Reborn, Better Cities - Open Cities Reborn, or any other city mod that affects the area around Benirus Manor, use the "Interior Only" version of this mod to prevent conflict."  So please switch to an Interior Only version to avoid the problem with the fencing.

As for the the issues with the quest, I wasn't able to reproduce it - I definitely tested that a bunch to make sure the quest was still playable through the house without issue, even with all of its alterations.  Which doesn't mean it's not happening for you, it just means I can't account for why.  Do you have a copy of your save from the time before you went in the house to meet Velwyn that you can send me?  I'd love to check it out.  I don't think Better Cities is the culprit, here, since it doesn't affect anything inside the manor.

Is it possible for you to undo the disabling of the mod manager download feature?

      It is! However:

This package contains alternate/optional files, and is structured as a BAIN-friendly archive to be installed manually or with Wrye Bash. Other mod managers such as NMM cannot install this package correctly; however, you may re-structure the package yourself for use with your manager if you do not wish to install the mod manually. The "Download With Manager" button at Nexus has been disabled to prevent installation errors.

This great mod works perfectly fine for me, I installed it every time I reinstalled my Oblivion BUT every time I did this (on a fresh reinstall and sligthly different mods every time) I get only one small "problem" if I can even call it like that... :D

There is a loud "rumbling" noise when I go up the stairs to the manor. lol
The noise seems to follow me around Cyrodiil as well from the first time I went up those stairs, too! Mostly when I jump or fall down somewhere.
When I try to go up the stairs I also seem to meet some kind of invisible "resistance" and that's when said rumbling starts as well, as if I hit some invisible clutter which gets stuck with my character after... It's kinda funny tbh but after a while it's annoying. The noise that follows me around really seems to have started when going up those stairs for the first time and doesn't occur on a new game until I go there... xD

I inspected the meshes around the stairs with Nifscope to see if there was anything but I couldn't find it. I clicked into the air and tried disabling anything that was there but curiously it didn't stop either. I'm currently using OCC, CoC and Maigrets House Cats which affect this area but as I said, I used different mods before because I had to reinstall my game several times over the years and this happened every time.

I will gladly accept this as the last and final curse of Lorgren Benirus or as a punishment for having to kill that poor old lich bastard... But I'd be even happier if there was a way to fix this somehow.
Pleaaase, put that hand next to my bo- .. I mean, help me stop that wormgodawful noise so my poor old necromancer lady can have a good nights rest again. xD

I have never heard of this or experienced this. Does it happen when you load only this mod? Can you try disabling some mods to see if removing any of the others fixes it and thus reveals some incompatibility?

Add your read-me to the description tab. Not downloading a mod just for the read-me because I'll be stuck with having to endorse it yes or no.

Plus, does anyone know if this is compatible with both Better Cities and Oblivion Reloaded?

Most of the readme is already in the description, but the entire readme is already available on the "Docs" tab. Both of those include compatibility information about Better Cities. Games that focus on changing the world space typically do not conflict with Oblivion Reloaded because they don't touch the same parts of the game. There is an entire compatibility section in the readme already posted on the Docs tab that lists all of the compatibility issues/fixes. You should check that out.

Ugh. This is gonna sound like the most noobish question but I'm pretty much at my wits end. How the f*#@ do I get BAIN to install this? I click install and the extraction window appears and then closes... Installing it without the wizard doesn't actually do anything and Wrye won't let me use the Wizard for this mod, the options are all grayed out.

Since the mod has many options, when you simply click Install, Wrye Bash doesn't know what to install. You need to check some subfolders first - notice the smaller window on the center-right, it should have many subpackages listed - click some of those, the options you prefer. Only after this you should rightclick Install on the mod package itself.

Check out Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide where you might find some images to see what I mean if it's not clear.
