About this mod

This mod adds a scripted weapon called The Implementor. It\'s a fairly powerful, two handed sword aimed at high level characters. A critical hit (rare) will strip the very flesh and soul from an opponent (humanoids only) leaving just a skeletal soulless husk holding all their equipment. It\'s not easy to lay your hands on though. Best fighting tro

"As a child I heard a ghost story. It was the kind of tale that is good for dark nights by warm fires. It was a traveler that told the tale, he said he had been an adventurer. I think he was making it up. He was old and thin. How could a man so gnarled have ever been an adventurer. Whatever, the truth of the teller, the story captured my imagination. He told of a sword, called "The Implementor." It was forged, he said, by a master smith, who gave up his soul to the blade to summon a demon spirit. With his last breath he breathed an incantation that would bind the demon into the blade. He had hoped to produce the ultimate blade, but the demon was more powerful than he had expected. It was supposed to be bound to the blade, which would become sharper every time it struck, but the spell didn't quite work. Not as it was supposed to, anyway. It was meant to provide a lethal edge, but instead the blood draws the demon to the surface. Every so often, when the blade strikes, the demon feeds. He feeds on the flesh, the blood and the very soul of the victim. It might be the tiniest cut , it might be a huge strike, but the demon consumes them entirely, leaving nothing but a soulless husk with a semblance of life. The story has enthralled me. It was supposed to be scary, but I cannot get it out of my head."

-- This is an exerpt from a book called the Diary of a Deathseeker, which you can find for sale in the first edition.

Okay, so having set the scene, I should probably tell you what this mod does. It adds a sword, a big one. It's not really apropriate for low level characters, but then they haven't got a hope of getting their grasping paws on it, so that's probably okay. Powerwise, it's on a par with Adonnay's classical weaponary, and the unique elven sabres. The weapon is scripted, and thus doesn't use beth's soul based charge system (something I loathe with a passion), but then its effects don't happen every strike. In fact, they are quite rare - and that's good since its an instakill. If you want to improve your chances, build up your luck skill.

Basically, when the effect takes hold, your victim is bathed in a red mist, there's a clap of thunder and all the flesh is stripped from their body, leaving nothing but a bloody skeleton with no soul. This is of course a polymorph effect, but it works pretty well at putting the skeleton exactly where it should be. Also, unlike most polymorhs, this leaves all the victim's equipment in possesion of their leftovers. It leaves the bloody skeleton standing on purpose (dead skellies can be hard to find in the wilderness). Of course it only works on humanoid NPCs (since there is a limit to what will look good turning into a humanoid skeleton).

If you think it's overpowered, feel free to tweak it in the CS - all my stuff (script, items etc) start with 'pt'.

Hating as I do mods which add great kit and just let you buy it in a shop, this one doesn't give up its prize easily. However, unlike normal quests it's not going to help you along with map markers and quest markers. you'll have to use your noggin a bit. It's not a long quest with only one clue (the book mentioned above), but neither is it an easy one. The blade is not lying dormant in a chest - you'll have to fight its current owner. The less hardcore need not apply. This is a powerful weapon - not something you want to face for long. Of course the special effect will never happen to you (that'd crash the game) but you'll still have a fight on your hands.

I'm not going to give away how to find it here. If you're absolutely stumped, look in the file called Implementor - Spoilers. In there there's a series of clues.

I can't do art, I just like scripting. I needed a big sexy weapon mesh, and found this beauty on tesnexus. It was created by DALL and appears in a mod called Fang. I hope he (she? it?) approves of my tinkering with it.

Note: The original mesh is 'dawnfang' from the SI add on.

Compatibility:
Hard to say for sure. It doesn't add much to the world, but If I tell you what it does add, then that'll spoil the quests. Best I can offer is I use well over 500 mods including FCOM, UL, Deadly Reflex and Better Cities and there are no compatibility problems for me. If you look in the spoiler file - there's a note on compatibility, but I urge you to feel safe. The blade itself shouldn't cause any trouble. OBMM will report a conflict with FCOM, from the skeleton mesh/textures, but don't worry - it's just the same, included for anyone not using those mods.

Hope you enjoy my latest but of work. It isn't as game changing as my avariel mod, but I think it's a nice thing.
