there is an option in a text file somewhere in the game files, to make hoods/hair cast shadows, I cant remember where this is, but if your computer can handle it, i recomend searching for it.

True, Dark Brotherhood ... hoods (lol) , cover up your face in some kind of blackness of the same texture as the outfit. Seems like a bug, the other types of hood are well-made, but DB seems forgotten

I can try to make the shadowy hoods for the khajiit and argonian. I have 3ds max so should be no problem.

This was one of the first mods I ever used.

I finally found a hood I like very, very much from another mod, but alas, it does not cast a shadow.

I've tried adding it in Blender/NifSkope (1st day noob on those) but for the life of me, I couldn't get it to work. I managed to add a plane mesh where I wanted it to cast the shadow and have it textured with a black <1 Alpha image/texture in Blender, following tutorials on youtube on how to do that, and doing all the Ctrl+A things on Blender with all objects selected before exporting, followed by taking what I read on another tutorial should be the appropriate steps in NifSkope (face normals, smooth normals, update tangent space, then make skin partition, although for some reason skin partition wasn't available for the shadow plane mesh) before having it ready for use in-game, yet when I load my game, the hood simply won't load at all (it'll just replace my character's hair).

Could you please, PLEASE elaborate (if possible on a step-by-step for dummies fashion) on how you add those shadows to the hoods? Or at least let me know what I did wrong?

There's a bug regarding looking at a mesh with alpha through another mesh with alpha where the second mesh looks invisible. This can be fixed if you make the shadow a seperate mesh (not attached to main hood) and leave alpha off the main hood. I have never figured out why this bug occurs but it's very annoying when you can see through the mesh. If you even do an update keep it in mind. If you need more infor to what I mean just message me and i'll explain.

On another note your Idea is brilliant and I've converted a few of my custom hoods to use this style. ^_^

The screenshots seem great, but the shadows are much, much too dark for me. I have a natively bright screen so I turned down the brightness in Oblivion to 15%, this could be the cause for such dark shadows.

You should make lighter/darker versions of the mod for people like me who prefer a lesser shadow as to keep the faces visible.

    To NomDeKeyz,

The shadows in the hoods actually look very realistic on beast races, as it wouldn't be realistic if the shadow formed some sort of bubble that also covered parts of the face that stuck out of the hood. I'm afraid I don't have a picture right now, but you should definitely try the mod out.
