    Hi pabs235,

I've made a mod that does the same in Atlas Rises (http://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/486/?) and could never figure out how to remove the shadow of the text in the notification, after searching on Nexus you are the only other person that has work on this.

If you have time to give me a pointer to how you did it that would be great.

EDIT: Also if you want to update yours feel free to look at my mod file, after downloading yours the way you've done it was really different and I think your method won't work in 1.3x, but I may be totally wrong

    Thanks,

      Hi vectors85,

nice work on your mod dude!

I tried implementing similar changes from before AR dropped and it didn't take, I haven't had time to find a new method so it's great you've found a solution so I'll leave my mod as broken and point people to your mod as you've done the hard work to get it working

Regarding the drop shadow, before AR there was some exml tags in UI/HUD/HUDINDICATORS.BIN like this:

      <Property name="HasDropShadow" value="True" />

that I simply edited to False and this worked fine (start looking below line 16853 in the decompiled exml right at the end of the file), but didn't seem to apply with AR.

I will take at look at your mod and how you have achieved it and see if anything jumps out as a potential solution.

Hope this helps and nice work

      pabs

      [edit]

This should do it dude, change lines 16889, 16913, 16937 so that the DropShadowOffset has a value of 0.

I believe the HasOutline settings also influence the text (these lines are right below the DropShadowOffset lines) and I seem to remember changes these too, so try changing lines 16891, 16915, 16939 so they have a value of 0 as well.

Thanks, just tested it real quick and you are right, those exact value corrected the issue.

I'm gonna upload a new version and credit you on the main page, do you want me to cross-promo another of your mod?

Also quick friendly note: in your description of "Creatures and Planets Info Moved" your edit date are 2007 and not 2017

      [EDIT: 22nd July 2007]

Added a Darker version as a separate download. Thanks to JJhookah for the suggestion and please check out his screenshots in the 'From Users' section of the Images to see it in action.

      [EDIT: 24th August 2007]

Added a Atlas Rises 1.33 mod that just moves and restyles the planet information (the new binoculars interface still shows the creature info). Hasn't been thoroughly tested so please let me know of any issues.

Thanks for the credit, much appreciated

Don't worry about promoting my other two mods specifically, if people want to check out my profile they can find my mods that way (the Creature and Planet Info moved is partly redundant now after AR and the new binocular interface, but the Clean Pickup Icons hopefully still has value to some players).

Can't believe I put 2007 on there lol My brain is stuck in stasis I think! Thank's for heads-up, will edit them shortly!

Unfortunately this mod does not currently work with version 1.3 Waking Titan.

I tried hex editing the files but no joy so far, so as soon as the amazing Mbincompiler folk cover the required files I'll update it (they have a huge amount of work to do, so I'm not gonna pester them )

    Nice, anything to reduce annoyance
How about making another mod with 100% transparency for background AND text? (and removing the popup sound too while you're at it) - once you're 20 hours into the game there's nothing informative in those messages, They're just an annoyance.

There is a mod that completely removes the messages I believe, try No More Blue Tutorial Messages (let me know if it doesn't work and I should be able to duplicate the functionality, not sure about the sound though as I haven't investigated audio yet). The message I really want to keep is the one that tells you how many species left to discover on a planet, but I haven't been able to selectively do this yet. Thanks for the feedback dude

How come I didn't see that one!? thanx
I'd have kept the messages - with your black background - if the game didn't keep spamming me with endless, useless, info (except creature scanning).

No probs, hopefully we'll be able to filter out certain messages eventually, or maybe HG will put this as an option in the game in some future update

    It seems neat.
I sometimes though something was wrong with the original blue version without nailing what exactly.
Your black ones look fine and integrated with all the other black panels.

Thank you Lo2k, and thank you for all your mods you have an impressive range of mods there! I'm a bit OCD with user interfaces and I couldn't resist the urge to try and change a few things in NMS. I'm gradually going through all the great mods available (I'm a fairly new player) and I know I have more than one of yours installed for sure! I'm chuffed you like this mod

Thanks. Have a nice time discovering front and back face of NMS. There's a lot a modder can do with it, especially around UI that only a very few people started to explore.
