Always wanted a break action shotgun, but one that could shot a heavy caliber instead of a gauge shell.....i loved this mod, you just made my day bud. Do you plan on updating the animation some day ? Its good but maybe you could make it better if you got the time ? Also, is there a break action gun like this one in real life ? Just wondering...
Just wanted to say this weapon mod is incredibly underrated. I have maybe 5 other custom weapons in my game (I'm very picky) and this has everything I look for in a weapon mod and it fits very well in the game lore and gameplay wise. I especially appreciate mods with their own custom animations and these look beautiful.
(Yes I know the weapon was originally created by Millenia, but I can still appreciate modders putting in the work to modernize Millenia's weapon mods)
Although in real life I'm not sure that he would be able to withstand a bullet of this caliber, yes, perhaps it could fit in there, after small changes in the channel, but how long this shotgun would last before the barrel burst, no one tell you. In the Soviets, almost any person who had a hunter's license could buy that shotgun, that is, almost any person i mean, unlike the most weapons that were produced in Russia or Soviet Union... Just a little history. About the mod is cool! I defenetily want this one, i have TOZ-34 by Millenia either, so this one could be sort of modification in a recipies.
It would last a very long time before damaging the gun, at least from chamber pressure.
The .50 BMG casing is the same diameter as a 12 gauge barrel, but the neck and projectile itself are substantially smaller, so there is no gas seal in the headspace, and thus chamber pressure is greatly reduced. A large portion of the energy of the propellant is wasted, as the gas vents around the projectile and along the barrel ahead of it after the brass expands. You're relying on the strength of the brass to temporarily contain the explosive force, rather than the gun chamber itself, which results in a slow projectile and a lot of unburnt powder.
Several gun channels on YouTube have demonstrated that this is possible, and you certainly wouldn't want to be shot by it, but it's still a waste of ammunition and tremendously impractical. You'd be better off using either a proper .50 BMG gun or a 12 gauge slug. It wouldn't hurt the shotgun, but you'd have a hard time extracting the casing afterward, since the brass expansion results in a press fit inside the chamber.
very nice. i think making the bullets smaller would make the reload look less jank though, the bullets look like they kind of clip through the barrel when loaded. I'm sure there's a way to make the bullets small enough to fit nicely with the animation, while still looking big and beefy.
I was really fortunate that Frozen and Ahz wanted to tweak the animations and bullet models to fit the weapon, I have no plans to go back and hassle them about minor tweaks to the bullet size, sorry.
