Fallout New Vegas

About this mod

Basic item prefix for almost everything.

Changelogs
First inspired by Project Nevada's Item Sorter for New Vegas and Better Item Sorting for Fallout 4, I settled out in the Capital Wasteland and made my first mod ever, the Item Prefix for F3 with DLCs. Now, here's my own take on item sorting for FNV.

"But why make an item prefix mod for NV if Project Nevada already has it?" you ask? This mod goes beyond what PN's item sorter offers. With PN, only a handful of Aid and Misc items were prefixed, with some DLC items missing their prefix. This mod covers all base content and DLCs, going as far as prefixing weapons, armors and a lot more.

Also, I'm aware that this kind of mod was made twice already. BIS Brumbeks Inventory Sorter and Inventory Sorters will do a similar thing. However, these 2 mods only use the alphabet for sorting items. I use (brackets), symbols and the alphabet for more in-depth sorting.

Comes with ESP's for each main file, as well as one file with all files merged. Don't have all DLCs? No problem! It's all there.

Vanilla Version
  • Main File: The first main file I made which is based on Vanilla FNV and its DLCs. No mods required to play. However, as an experienced player, I strongly suggest you get Mission Mojave Ultimate Edition (the unofficial patch) and use the MMUE version below. I'm not saying this version doesn't work, it's just that you might encounter game-breaking bugs that may hinder you progress, which are totally unrelated to this mod. I think it's old news that vanilla FNV is kinda broken. :D

Mission Mojave Ultimate Edition Version
  • Optional File - Mission Mojave Ultimate Edition (MMUE): This is a revision of my mod to accommodate to the subtle changes made to weapons, apparels and other items by the MMUE Unofficial Patch, which are overridden in the file above. This edition only supports the GOTY edition (or all DLCs installed).

Note about Optional Files

To cope with the lack of a No Spoiler version, I made these 2 optional files which will override certain item's prefixes to adjust them to certain DLC uses.

- The file "[02-2] (DM Spoiled Vending Machine Return Items) is an optional file, that can be used with both the [00] file or the others. Using this optional file will tag all items that can be returned to the Sierra Madre Vending Machine for chips with the [Chip] prefix.

- The file "[04-2] (OWB Spoiled Sink Clutter)" an optional file, like above, and can be used with both the [00] file or the others. Using this optional file will tag all misc clutter that can be exchanged at The Sink (all robot AIs) with the [Sink] prefix. Happy hoarding!

Both of these optional files are tied to the Dead Money and Old World Blues add-on. If you don't own these, there's no point in using these.

Modder's Resource

This file can used in the GECK as a counterpart for OPAL files for any items that can be used by the player. Navigate the Object Window by sorting the names and all items should be easier to spot. Find usable weapons, armors, medical items and misc items with ease. Anything that doesn't have a prefix can't be used by the player, so no worries about adding an unplayable item.

To use this file in the GECK, simply check the box of this mod along with your own and sprinkle that clutter away with ease. I suggest using anything but the [00] All DLC files, as it will set all DLC as Masters for your own mod. This can be undone easily in FO3Edit, but nonetheless, I suggest using the separate content files from [01] to [10].

Here's a preview of how your items will be prefixed. By using different (types) <of> [brackets], symbols (# *) and relevant prefix, I reorganized the item's sorting order by fooling computer alphabet.
