I can see you've already put in a lot of work, but have you considered making this into Fallout 4? Obviously it would be a start from scratch but I'm sure you could get other modders to help you. Surely there would be enough people interested in helping to form a team?
Two someones are already doing this, "Fallout 1 - The Story WIP" and "California West Coast (fallout 1 and 2 map)" which as the name implies will do both 1 and 2. And they're both active, but I don't know how fast they're progressing.
Wonder how fast they'd be if they all worked together.
But I wish all three mods luck, I want to play the first Fallouts but couldn't get into them without an update like these.
I would like to recommend the After War Nevada overhaul mod for the people waiting on this mod to get finished. The creator wanted to make New Vegas more of an RPG with armor resistance like in the original fallout. More customization for builds for role playing and way more significant SPECIAL stats. making the decisions when creating a character critical
Its Great Fun! look it up on the Nexus! or Google it and read more about it
I believe someone already beat you to a few maps... Come to think of it why hasnt anyone tried to make a fallout 3?... oh wait- porting is illegal and and making a map that large... heheheheh... heh.... uh..
Oh! and you might want to use the classic weapon pack mod! i dont know if you have permission (Maybe make the mod a requirement and give thanks to the author) but im pretty sure that would suit this environment! good luck to you!
I do plan on implementing models from classic armor/weapon mods; I'm... less than proficient at modeling, myself. Of course, all credit will be given where credit is due!
I am aware that there are a lot of other projects going on out there that are converting the classic content onto New Vegas, and I think that's awesome! This project is not only so that other people can enjoy Fallout in its glory without finding themselves bored or confused, but too also improve my personal worth ethic and skills with the Geck and scripting. I'm sure a collaborative effort isn't out of the picture down the road..
Alright a few things to say and a little advice to give.
1. Good luck, stay active. 2. You should try adding mods by Ryss5an to the requirements and utilize his models for the one you are missing, such as sniper rifle, 10mm pistol and smg, and combat shotgun. You don't have to make the esps a requirement just use the models and textures and replacement for the FNV assets. 3. Also you could add Classic Fallout Weapons to the list as well and get the crowbar, supersledge, pulse grenade, plasma grenade, laser pistol and rifle. 4. Furthermore you could add Millenia's Toz-66 to take the place of the Widomaker (Classic Fallout Weapons uses a Toz66 too, but Mill has a much more up-to-date texture and model). Millenia also did a Desert Eagle.
That's the plan! Right now, what I'm using is simply template as I adjust the values and smooth out the transition from turn-based to real time. By the time I have a first iteration of the game drawing to a close, and it's actually playable, all the models should be looking very close to what they looked like in Fallout. Thank you for the suggestions, I'll give them a look.
What's wrong with using the vanilla guns? Canonically, a lot of them are Pre-War so if they exist in Fallout 2 they should logically still be around in the first game.
