i like the concept of this mod as Tunnelers are an annoying element of Dust even though from a "lore" perspective it does go against what Dust set out to do. then again all Dust did was reskin geckos and make them extra hostile so this mod is no different "lore wise" than mods that make fire geckos or night stalkers friendly in the base game
The guy is a hack who intentionally made Dust as mean spirited as possible, and NV fans eat it up. Say what you will about Bethesda fans, they aren't hostile losers.
its the lazy aspect of DUST that i can't get past or more specifically the fact that all DUST does is reskin/ rename and make hostile every single npc in the game without removing the quest giving npc's you want proof of how lazy it is go to quarry junction and use console on the "cannibals" at the make shift khan camp then you can talk to Mel and STILL get the quest to go get her the chems from the ncr at primm. as for it's fans i won't comment seeing as posting an honest review about it's flaws got me reported to nexus but i can't help agreeing with you about the level of fan worship there is for DUST i just wish i understood why
No, it's literally the point of DUST. Ulysses says that the Tunnellers will find the Mojave in 20 years time and take over as they're unstoppable. That's the story of the mod.
Still, the point of mods is to change stuff to your liking, who cares. Don't like, don't DL.
Yea, but they're still overpowered as hell. In the description the dust guy said it would only take a few bullets to kill them, but unless my game is bugged, and is always bugged every time i update it, if i turn on godmode so i dont have to reload, it takes around 50 rapid shots point blank to the head of my assault shotgun to kill one. Age they attack constantly. And in groups of 5-9, and see you from miles away in a dust storm wile you're wearing a stealth boy. Without this, anytime i see them i lose all immersion, think "Oh. Well, s#*!, time to open console or ill have to replay the last 3 hours of my sneaking around"
Also, the premise isnt necessarily the entire point of something. Just the reasoning to allow for the setting. Like how nobody cares about zombies in DayZ.

Actually, no. That is one part of the mod, but not the main plot at all. The main plot of the mod revolves around terrorists setting of a dirty bomb in Vegas, the cloud spreading from the Sierra Madre, AND the tunnelers spreading from the Divide into the Mojave. The tunnelers alone would not really pose much threat to Vegas, despite what Ulysses says, due to the sheer number of solders at the disposal of the NCR and the Legion, and House's hundreds of heavily armed security.
If you haven't noticed tunnelers are broken and the mod author never bothered to fix them their detection is broken making ones miles away detect you with a stealth boy active. Worsened by their knock over ability two shot kill and traveling in packs of 20 and are near impossible to kill before being swarmed.
Could you possibly make another perk that reverts the changes to damage and DT on yourself but not on enemies for the low low price of -1 from each S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?
I know I'm late but thank you for this, I love the idea of Dust but the Tunnelers make it impossible for me to play (because I'm a filthy casual) even on Very Easy mode, this is exactly what I needed.
I like the idea of this being a perk over a standard modification. For the perk's flavour text perhaps some mention of the player going through some sort of mutation. Glowing eyes, scales forming on the skin, ect.
Now... if i recall, didnt the end of lonesome road say that the tunnelers didnt attack the guy any more? assuming you fended them off with him and stopped the nuke via speech rather than blowing his head off and sacrificing ED-E. That would mean a challenge quest for it would be lore friendly.
Why does every mod that changes DUST gt so much hate? I mean honestly, people treat that mod like there is a "right" way to play it and changing that is somehow wrong. I mean my god, DUST itself changes the core FNV gameplay, does that make *it* evil? Sheesh.
The way the original guy doesnt seem to be "right" since it contradicts his own description "You will curse me when you initially get torn apart by tunnelers, but come to thank me when you realize how little bullets it takes to kill them" Then they attack in groups of 8, 2shot you, and barely lose any health from point blank shotgun blasts.
