About this mod

This is a simple mod that moves the bunker entrance from DanTheGeek's insanely awesome "Underground Hideout" mod to the Lucky 38 Casino. It makes the bunker entrance accessible through the casino's elevator after you locate the key.

==LUCKY 38 ELEVATOR ENTRANCE TO UNDERGROUND HIDEOUT==

By: Leomartis
Version: 0.01 beta

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST HAVE THE LATEST VERSION (V4-4) OF THE "UNDERGROUND HIDEOUT" MOD INSTALLED FOR THIS MOD TO WORK.  THIS IS AN EARLY BETA RELEASE, AND I APPRECIATE ALL HONEST FEEDBACK.  NOT TESTED FOR EARLIER VERSIONS OF UNDERGROUND HIDEOUT.

Description:

This mod moves the entrance to the "Underground Hideout" bunker from the wasteland to the Lucky 38 Casino.  It adds a new sub-basement room that's accessible from the casino's elevator (if you have the card key); you'll now find the bunker entrance hatch in this new sub-basement room.  This mod improves immersion and realism, and simplifies regular use of both the Underground Hideout and the Lucky 38's Presidential Suite.

Back-story:

I'm a huge fan of the Underground Hideout mod, but immersion is important to me and I always felt like the bunker was a little TOO good for a player to just stumble upon out in the Wasteland.  I also think that getting the bunker too early in the game can lead to the player having too strong of an advantage when his or her character should be relatively weak, broke, roughing it and struggling to survive.

What DOES make sense to me, however is that a rich and powerful man like Mr. House might have his own bunker just in case the nukes got through, so this mod re-imagines the Underground Hideout as Mr. House's personal bunker under the Lucky 38.  With this mod, the bunker becomes available only after the player has sufficiently advanced the main story, making it a great endgame tool for collectors, or a worthy prize for more advanced characters who have put in their dues.

Additional Details:

Warning, this section contains spoilers.

Q: HOW DO YOU FIND THE ENTRANCE?

A: If you are feeling adventurous, just skip reading the answer to this question and play the game.  If you explore the Lucky 38 well enough, you'll eventually figure it out.  Depending on the choices you make,  you might figure it out quickly and easily, or the solution might completely elude you.  There are a few possible play-through scenarios that could make it a little difficult to find, I admit, so the next paragraphs spills the beans if you're not up for the search.

There are two ways to get inside the bunker.

First, you can kill Mr. House and retrieve the special key card off his corpse.  This will not work if you use the Control Room's computer terminal to kill him (i.e. sterilizing the mod and causing him to blow up), since you can't loot his body after those scenarios.  So simply kill him via normal means (like a grenade up his nose!) and then loot the card.  When you go back to the main elevator now, you'll find there's now a new option for the "Bunker" floor that you can select.  This is also nice because you can easily move between the Bunker and the Presidential now, making it reasonable to use both in your game play.  (I plan to use the Presidential for my followers, for the moment, even though the bunker also has a small followers area too.)

Second, you can find a blank key card hidden someplace on the Casino floor of the Lucky38, then take it to the Control Room and use the terminal there to encode your own access card.  This lets you keep Mr. House alive if you want, BUT... if he's alive, remember that his defenses are active too, and he never told you that you could go chill in his slick underground pad.  This means when you first try to enter the bunker, you'll trigger the bunker acquisition quest that the Underground Hideout's author made optional before.  It's no longer optional if you don't kill Mr. house.

Q: ANY OTHER CHANGES I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?

A: I have tried to make as few changes as possible to the Hideout because it's such a cool mod as it is.  I did disable the tool that lets you move the bunker's entrance to wherever you want because the purpose of the mod is to put it under the Lucky 38.  Also, since the Strip has plenty of power, the power generator options are inactive by default instead of you being prompted whether to activate them or not.  You can still turn these features on in the bunker though (through the bunker's terminal) if you want.

That's really it, for now.  This mod is really just the first small step in a number of immersion mods that I'm planning to release his year, since there's STILL no work on Fallout 4 so it appears we have to keep making our own new content for the moment.

Installation:

If you want to manually install this mod, just move the .ESP file into your Fallout NV data directory.  When loading the game, make sure that this mod is loaded AFTER the Underground Hideout mods are loaded, otherwise it will not function.  You probably should also load it after any other mods that affect the Lucky 38, just to be safe.

Credits:

It should be clear that I had nothing to do with the creation of the Underground Hideout mod; I'm merely a huge fan of that mod, which is available to us thanks to the hard work of DanTheGeek.  None of the files or materials from the Underground Hideout are distributed with my mod, you will need to obtain them on your own from official channels.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO ENDORSE DANTHEGEEK'S 'UNDERGROUND HIDEOUT' MOD IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO ALREADY.  I can only imagine the insane
number of hours that he must have put into that mod so that pack rats and collectors like me could have a great place to store all our virtual junk/treasures.
