I'm taking some time out from working on Global Dynamics with Lord Zeus and I'll work on making him as a standalone custom follower, I won't have to wait on voice acting for him so give me a couple of days and hopefully he will be ready. I probably won't post him up as a follower here (since it's a resource mod) but place him up on Custom Robot Followers mod, so look out for him there.
@NewVegasRemnantV13, This mod is provided as a resource mod for other modders to make use of the assets provided in their own projects. The esp provided was actually my WIP and is purely for the demonstration of the drone and it's animations.
I should also mention to others who are interested there are a few extra vault pieces which are also provided as modders resources, but one of the corner pieces needs adjustment to it's vertex colours.
I'll try and make a push to get him done in my custom robot followers mod, I'm setting up the companion quests etc. for K9 and Vincent with R2D2 next followed by Drone 101 and I'm hoping to release all at once. If there's anyone out there who can come up with some R2D2 bleep noises or how to make them please drop me a PM.
I've been curious about how many polys the mesh has , I just downloaded and tried to import the Sketchup files into 3DS MAX 2012 but the importer won't have a bar of it. I tried the Nif version which imports okay and just seeing the main body poly count of 20K plus is a worry and will take a lot of work to cut down. Might actually be quicker to remake it using your model as a template, I wouldn't mind having a go since I was planning on making one for a custom robot followers mod which I'm working on. It shouldn't be difficult for me to knock up a custom skeleton and animations to give it proper Oblivion drone behaviour, it's just the size of the mesh which is the concern.
Edit.. That took a bit of work and I ended up having to remake the whole mesh, ended up with about 7-8K poly count (I did change the back a little). I should be able to get it into game no problems.
yeah i was working on reducing the pollys but computer decided it didnt want to work no more so i had to wait till i got a new one now i have a new one i can get back started in to this again. do you have a link to a mod with the drone in it or can you send me a copy of the drone. I would like to have it for my mod as well and place it up for everyone to DL giving you all the credit that is do of coarse. the pics looked awesome and when i seen the one where he is actually in game i almost jumped out of my chair he is awesome.
