About this mod

Replaces the salvaged power armor with fully-functional T-45d power armor for NCR heavy troopers

What it does:
This mod creates an NCR faction version of the T-45d power armor. NCR Heavy troopers will all spawn equipped with it. There's a set for the player in an armor crate in the NCR safehouse, by the shelves with all the other goodies (it's still faction armor for now, but I can always change that). The armor uses the vanilla meshes and armor addons, but custom textures (same res as vanilla). Other than the NCR faction mask it has stats identical to regular t-45 power armor, and so requires power armor training.

There's some dialog in the game that relates to the salvaged armor (I know Hanlon mentions it, not sure if there are others) and modding that out would be well beyond my abilities. So there's a note in the safehouse crate that explains the fully re manufactured units are replacing the salvaged units, which are being pulled from the front lines. If an NPC suggests they're still in use, we can assume he's misinformed, rather than just nuts. For that reason, this mod doesn't outright replace the Salvaged armor, and the set in the Safehouse will still be there - as far as I know it should be the only one left in the game (if you've already looted a bunch of Salvaged armor it won't change into power armor).

Why:
I never much liked the appearance of the salvaged NCR power armor, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that. Besides, there's no reason they couldn't repair powered armor back to a functional condition, when any random wasteland vendor can for enough money, and by Fallout 2 the BoS no longer has a monopoly on power armor in the Core region. I've found some great mods on the Nexus that improve the looks and capabilities of the rest of the NCR's troopers and the Legion, but I hadn't yet found one that does this.

I chose the T-45 so the Brotherhood still has the comparative edge with their newer t-51b armor. It's painted in a faded, 6-color desert camo scheme to make it look different from other power armor, and fit in more with the tan colored armor used by the NCR's ordinary troopers.

I wanted to use the two bears high-fiving as a unit logo, but couldn't get it to look as good shrunk down.

Technical/Compatibility:
I've tested this on my game and it's worked fine so far. Give it a try and let me know if you encounter any issues. If the heavy troopers have already spawned in your game and their armor doesn't change you may have to leave the cell their in and wait a few days ingame - I don't have a savegame on this HD where they've appeared, but everything works when spawning them in by console commands.

The NCR Power Armor is a completely new item, and doesn't replace anything. Some of the lists pertaining to the NCR Heavy Troopers has been changed, however. I have a relatively small number of mods installed, so there are plenty of mods I haven't tried this with.

This is the first mod I've done for FNV, so I'm counting on you guys to let me know if anything needs fixing.

Manual Install:
As I understand it, this should work with NMM, but if it doesn't, manually download and extract the "data" folder to your main FNV directory, and allow it to merge with the existing. To remove just delete NCR Power Armor.esp and the NCR Power Armor folder from Fallout New Vegas/Data/Textures.
