    FAQ's:

    Q: Is this mod fully-voiced?

    A: It's 99.9% voiced, so technically... no.

Q: Why is this build standalone-only?

A: Because I've had some issues with getting the script to cooperate. I just said to hell with it for the time being, frankly. Just de-activate the plugin until you're ready to start the quest.

    Q: MARKO IS TOO HARD!

    A:

    1. You don't have to fight him.

    2. Use chems.

    3. Improvise, adapt and overcome.

Q: Why is this mod listed as .95 (upon release)?

A: Though it's been tested and it is *mostly* voiced, I expect to encounter a few bugs upon release. I've been modding for long enough to know that this is inevitable. After all, I really do mod drunk, so I can't catch everything.

Q: Why are some characters essential? THAT BREAKS WITH THE VANILLA DESIGN!

A: Again, this is another, "f*** it, I'm too lazy now" situation. Sorry, just roleplay around it or something. Use your imagination. Pretend they have a cadre of badass, invisible guardian angels dressed in leather and wielding flaming broadswords. Problem solved!

Q: Okay, I know you say not to bring companions, but I'm really attached to Ranger Fluffy and Mister Sparkles. It would so much more enjoyable if I could share the excitement of this mod with them!

A: What the hell, bring them all. What's the worst that could happen? Oh, please, PLEASE bring Russell - there is an amazing twist that brings out an exciting new stage of characterization!

Q: I can appreciate the power of guardian angels, but I *really* want to shoot Ford in the face.

A: Be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

Q: You used to be polite and sincere. Now you seem like a unhinged maniac. What happened?

A: Five years of modding and reading comments, that's what happened. Try it and see if you're sprinkles and sunshine on the other side.

Q: Is this your last mod for FO:NV?

A: *Maybe* not. It depends on how quickly I can crank out "The Better Angels".

Q: What is "The Better Angels"?

A: A mod about angels on a journey of introspection, discovery, and self-improvement. It's going to be my first mod that's free of violence and profanity. It's a bold new step.

Q: Characters are constantly foreshadowing characters and events in mods that can't possibly be feasible with FO4 around the corner. What were you thinking?

A: Enter the Barbershop. Listen to Cocker and Cutty. These are literally the voices in my head, all the time. Does this answer your question?

Q: This is an FAQ, not an FAA. I ask the questions, you bastard. You're irresponsibly leaving plot threads that will drive players insane. Have you no decency? No moral compass?

    A: No.

Q: What triggers the dialogue between Cocker and Cutty? I keep waiting and they don't say s***?

A: Exit the barbershop and then re-enter. A script sends an electic shock to Cocker's testicles, compelling him to begin speaking with Cutty.

Q: You teleported NPC's AGAIN?! MAH IMMERSION!

A: To quote the great Jokerine: I MOD FOR FUN - I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR PRECIOUS IMMERSION.

Q: This mod felt about as enjoyable as a lethal injection. Do you revel in the player's anguish?

A: NVBIII was always written as the low point in my mod series. It's a singularly dark plugin that was meant to set the Courier up for redemption, healing, etc. in later mods. I sort of ran out of time, so you're up s*** creek. Oh, and it's apparently frozen.

Q: The gratuitous profanity in your mods is simply obnoxious. It makes me physically ill to hear your dialogue, even in the form of LP's. Can't you just clean it up?

A: Five years on, and some motherfuckers still haven't learned that I'm not trying to write dialogue like this to be some sort of edgy freak. THIS IS HOW I TALK AND THINK, ALL THE TIME. IT CANNOT BE HELPED. MOTHAFUCKA.

Q: Oh, yeah, what about Roderick Redbeard? He didn't swear!

A: I have a lore-demon in my skull that torments me mercilessly if I begin to undermine the tone and/or style of the series I'm modding. Saying, "f***" in Skyrim would make the demon do carwheels around my brain. The demon must be respected.

Q: Why do you voice so many characters? You're not Eddie Murphy, motherf***er!

A: No s***, it's out of necessity. No one is more self-conscious about it than me. Thanks for making me FEEL LIKE s***!

Q: How long have you been in the habit of penning FAQ's while intoxicated?

A: Since the summer of 2014. It's been remarkably theraputic.

Q: I found duplicate notes on [Insert NPC]'s body. Is this signaling a new conspiracy orchestrated by the Syndicate?

A: YES. EVERYTHING IS A CONSPIRACY.

    Q: Who is Cunty McLean?

    A: Your lord and savior.

Q: You clearly didn't invest any forethought in these FAQ's. What are you doing?

A: I'm writing this as I wait for the 300+ mb file to upload, praying to Jesus-Zimmer that the Nexus doesn't just s*** on the process and switch over to some ad for nipple cream.

Q: You seem terribly, inexplicably hostile. I'm uncertain if I should share my meticulous criticism of your mod.

A: So long as it's not a one-dimensional attack, post it. Rest assured, no one is more aware of my mods' failings than me. Tell me what you liked, what you didn't like, and how you'd improve it. That's a bingo!

Q: Will you mod Skyrim again?

A: So long as the CK's dialogue system remains a soul-crushing clusterfuck, NEVER. It works for a bit, then inexplicably just shits itself. To hell with that.

    Q: Will you mod FO4?

A: If there is a workaround for the voiced protagonist, you can bet your ass I will.

Q: Why are all these NPC's scantily-clad in a frosty, alpine setting?

A: Most NPC's you encounter in the open are deranged and/or hostile. Speaking for the deranged, environmental concerns are often secondary to your standing obsession, like lore-demons and voices arguing in your head.

Q: I've read through a half-page of this nonsense, and I still can't figure out [INSERT SOLUTION TO REASONABLE QUESTION].

A: I'm sorry. Luckily, there are saner minds afoot in the comments. Post your question and hopefully they'll answer you. My answers tend to confuse, infuriate, and depress.

Q: I am stuck during the quest "Hell-Bent". Why have you forsaken me?

A: Use any version past .951 - it should be fixed.

Q: In the quest "Ain't no Grave", I am unable to speak with Thorne. His dialogue simply shows up as "..."

A: Move the .esp up in your load order and try again.

I do not know if anybody will answer this, and it’s ok if that doesn’t happen, but I am having a problem with the final showdown with Marko.

I noticed that when he approaches Randall and starts talking with him, he pauses right around the moment when he says “I’m resigned to the fact that I’ll have to do everything myself.” Ford doesn’t even kill Randall like I’ve seen in playthroughs.

I don’t know what the issue is, but maybe it has to do with the file. I haven’t done anything with it yet, but if somebody hasn’t answer, that would really help. I love this quest mod a lot, and I want to finish it on a high note.

While I understand Marko is a psychopath trying to gaslight you and shift all the blame off of him, that's not my gripe. My gripe is that I can't do anything about it. I can't pass an Intelligence check to counter his claims, I can't pass a bad karma check to show that his guilt-tripping isn't working, I can't pass a speech check to make a good reply to ANYTHING he says. The story is just heavily in favor of Marko's side dialogue-wise, there's no way for me to shut him down in words and smarts, so my only option is to shoot him down instead, which is what Marko says will vindicate his words.

I enjoyed the mod because killing is fun, but New Vegas is all about the player's build being able to affect dialogue and interactions beyond just basic "high Guns skill makes you damage more" stuff, like in Honest Hearts you could use your Guns skill to rebuke Ricky. This mod had a lethal lack of that, and it's annoying to go through.

That was my main gripe too, so I inhaled a frankly lethal amount of copium and wrote a thousand words about my Courier using Quick Draw to blast Markos bottom jaw off before he could get into his self-righteous bullshit at the final confrontation, it kind of helped.

I wrote something years back about the Courier having the two brain cells required to realize Virgil is Marko, and having his companions trail him to Frosthill to rescue everyone at the 'climax'.

Nobody is coming back to this mod to update it, still gonna post something.

I think others have their complaints about Marko being 'edgy'. I agree, but adding in more about that would be repetitive. So I'll point my ire at something else.

This mod is Railroad City. It commits the cardinal sin of removing player choice or cleverness at every opportunity. It continually sabotages previous events in other Someguy mods and overall keeps trying to make things worse when those are things the player had no choice in. The dialogue is without choice - it always leads to someone lecturing you. Every bounty is essentially 'either get chewed out for not killing people for the NCR or feel bad'. Marko...Marko has plenty already, but the fact you can't put together the transparently obvious story and put one between his eyes before even going to Frosthill makes it clear that Someguy was not interested in actually giving the player options or rewarding thought.

We're here for the Edgy Suffering Train folks, where the one government is pointlessly evil and you're not allowed to rebut anything.

It's a pity the Marko rewrite mod got taken off the Nexus. Lack of VA or not, it was probably better than this dreck.

And thank God Th3Overseer isn't following in Someguy's footsteps.

Also: despite all of this, Bobby Bass was extremely funny.

I've played this mod 3 times now. Excellent 10/10.

-It's a satisfying conclusion to the Marko hunt after teasing him throughout your series. Srsly, great story overall.
-Some enemies have unreasonably padded stats, but I'll just assume they're on chems (.... too)
-Some traps are flat out undefusable due to their placement. Pray you have an explosive on hand to EOD the damn things.
-No game breaking bugs at all. A rare feature of massive mods.
-Some plots made little sense such as Esther's ending if we kill her. It says bounty hunters are trying to hunt us down because we killed her unborn child? Even though she's a child slaver who, in her own words, have "found homes for a dozen children". So she gets 10K caps and got let off scot free for slaving multiple children but I get bounty hunters when I kill her unborn baby? Seems unfair. It's not even explained how words got out about us killing her but not about her past as a child slaver to justify the kill.
-Another one would be Virgil's dialogue while visiting Troy's victims. He says that it's our fault that Troy raped and killed them. Problem is, in a previous dialogue, Virgil himself said that NCR sent them out there--saying that it's safe to settle down now that we've killed Eileen. Even though at no point we were given the option to tell the NCR that the place is safe after killing Eileen, so it's completely on them. The bigger problem here is, there's no option to call out Virgil's flawed logic. Suggesting that the narrative supports the idea that it is our fault. Despite, objectively, it isn't? This one's just puzzling.
-Ford was fun if a bit empty so it's a shame we don't get to acquaint ourselves better with him.
-Bobby's holotape was just perfect. Simply amazing voice acting on your part.

Yeah, Virgil's entire moral tableau is a bit of a low point in the Someguy mod series. To give Someguy some credit, I think he was using Virgil as a parody of everything he hates or doesn't care for: Virgil admonishes and belittles the Courier for profanity when Someguy repeatedly defends his use of strong language in his FAQs, Virgil insists on making the Courier feel guilt with his 'every kill has consequences' spiel when Randall from Bounties I does the exact opposite--with Randall, his moral stance is a lot clearer and his moral introspection actually makes sense. Virgil does get his comeuppance in the end but the issue here is that the Courier gets no leeway to talk back decisively against Virgil. The dialogue constantly gives Virgil the last word in every debate and he gets to belt out 1-4 paragraphs in response per every sentence the Courier gets in edgewise. While the end of the mod finally forces Virgil to wear the 'villain cap' and drop his mudflinging at the Courier, everything up until that point makes it seem like Someguy as an author supports Virgil's warped morality (which he doesn't, but that doesn't come across till the end).

It's really funny because in Bounties II, Someguy mocked the moralistic preaching of the Lonesome Road DLC by having Doc Friday go on
a tangent about how bland and incoherent Ulysses' ranting was. And he does that again in Better Angels by having Josey tear a strip off Ulysses, yet Someguy proceeds to do the exact same s*** in Bounties III by making us listen to Virgil and Marko. Virgil and Marko both go on incredibly long monologues about morality.

The people of Frosthill are largely hypocrites for thinking that Marko isn't a bad guy while each valuing some sense of right and wrong in their own way, and to Someguy's credit the town's willful ignorance in trusting Marko does eventually come back to bite them all in the ass. This mod sorely needed an option to trip Virgil or Marko up in dialogue or to point out the flaws in their argument-just to chip that supremely arrogant and stuck-up confidence of theirs at least once and assure the the players that the narrative isn't just arbitrarily putting us in situations where we're guaranteed to be "wrong" no matter what choice we make.

The reference to the Manning Wikileaks controversy in the character of Joe Frost is just a cherry on top for missteps in writing (Joe Frost's character even looks like Manning, facial structure, glasses, hairstyle and all)--it's an insertion of a 21st-century political incident into a fictional setting, which is just a great big mistake on that principle alone.

It's okay to not be everyone's hero. It's okay for the player to be antagonized by characters now and then, but not for the player to be antagonized by the entire narrative pushing the player into a corner through limited dialogue or nonsensical guilt trips.

If I had a nickel for every New Vegas quest mod that was set in a winter climate and had brilliant technical quality and gameplay, but poor writing that comes close to sinking it, I'd have two nickels--which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

If any, I dislike that aspect of someguy2k mods, some characters are just.. essential for the sake of plot. New Vegas famous for it freedom, doesn't matter if you kill House, Caesar or whoever NPCs related to the main story, you still can finish it in your own way whenever you feel like it but not with NVB3, surely if you kill Virgil there, there could be a consequences or something but nah I don't know I'm not a writer but still respect Someguy2k for his awesome filler works.

I think most quest adventure modders to this day still can't replicate the genius behind New Vegas writing, they still stuck with Bethesda mentality of quest writing design with essential NPCs that were require to progress the quest. Even big mods like New California and recently Frontier still can't make it.. damn, I hope Josh, Chris Avellone or whoever can tell us how to design at game where freedom in RPG is all that matter and even if you fucked it up, the game still go on but still react to player doing it.

To be fair: New Vegas did the exact same thing. It just built its main quest around two NPCs you absolutely cannot kill: Yes Man and Lanius. One's got a technobabble explanation and the other isn't appearing anywhere, in both cases they ensure that there will be a fight at the Dam and a faction to side with regardless of your choices.

But Someguy should've made it so, you know, using your brain lets you wrap s#*! up. Figure out the random asshole telling you you suck and everything you've done sucks is actually Marko? Plug the fucker and complete the quest automatically.
