The latest update contains a nif with custom texture path so it will not conflict with anything.

10/10 lad, you're the next john conner.

Edit: I'd also wager if someone wants to use the stronger variant, just swap the texture out with the 1st version and keep the mesh.

Looks very good in the example given, but as stated previously, it makes the effect in Vault 22 very, very strong. This texture also affects broken computer terminal screens and makes them look somewhat odd, sort of like the screen is made of crumpled paper, and causes them to lose their greenish color. This can also be easily seen in Vault 22 since there are lots of broken terminals.

Oooohhh! So THAT's what was causing weird looking terminal screens! o.O
      I really had no idea!

      Thanks for the info!

I could make less intense version later, but now I'm busy with other mods.

I had no idea myself until I saw the terminals in Vault 22 because that's where I went to test the gas. I noticed how strange they looked (I had JUST been in there questing and didn't recall them looking that way) and figured out that it was this texture that affects them, too. How odd that they would use it for two very randomly different things, right? xD

I just found this myself, heh.
Also been using Sink Overhaul by Elianora and one of the photo frames uses the fxflatnormal_n.dds as well. It looked very odd

Late to the party here, but I've uploaded a fix for the terminals, as well as for Mr House's portrait.

I made an edit to the gas trap mesh in nifskope to point to a different texture, and renamed the texture. Should fix compatibility. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1016838/better%20gas%20leak.7z You can use it here if you want

Ya I noticed the same issue, the effect in vault 22 is overpowering.. there is definitely no mistaking where the leak is.

Good mod, though I'm pretty sure it's the cause of the incredibly strong leak effect in the Sierra Madre kitchen when confronting Dog/God.

Is this just a texture replacer or does it use a esp?

You know, i -never- noticed that gas in Docs house... even after picking up every single object in that area and looking right at the leak. So yes. Clearly a good download.

The gas in Doc Mitchel's house is a feature from New Vegas Enhanced content. With that mod you can release the gas from oxygen tanks, among other features.

You really should get NVEC DesertElf, It's like 600 mods moved into 1 .esp, I was able to remove 15 mods from my load list when I got it. I can't play without it now.
