I really like this mod but sadly I had to disable it as it kept causing my game to crash, anyone know why this might be happening or how to help fix this
I'll leave this merge up with notes that it is outdated so people can use it if they want to, but I'm currently working on more updates for the other Factions Reloaded mods (namely Raiders and Mojave Reloaded). Once I finish them all and feel that the series is complete I'll take a look at this merge file.
Sorry for the necropost, but I also had this question. It was never added to Factions Reloaded - Legion, so they don't act as functional merchants. Bummer.
Can we have an official response on why this was hardcoded in the ESM file? No quest triggered that event and this type of bullshit can ruin a good mods reputation quite fast.
MrSpanky, if you use the Factions Reloaded - Merge file, I'll check this out and try to fix it in my next update. If you don't use that file, it seems that this mod author is no longer doing updates and you're unlikely to get an answer. Also, this is a good mod that still has a good reputation. Asking politely for a mod author to fix something without coming across as rude is more likely to have positive results.
The desert rangers are linked to a Factions Reloaded - Legion quest. They aren't aligned with any faction, so you don't have to be concerned with them affecting anything serious. I made the quest probably over 5 years ago by now, and I believe the issue was that the quest is triggered by stepping into the end of the cave rather than by killing any of the NPCs. If you want to trigger the quest that way, just walk to the end of the cave and it should work okay.
Sorry about the super late response but I don't really play this game anymore.
This mod just did something unexpected which was very, very hilarious. But such is the nature of open-world sandbox games and this here is a testament to why they're so superior to every other genre of the game because things that were not supposed to happen can happen and there's no script to a lot of the ambient events.
So anyways, I'm on a new playthrough with a new character and I had just reached the strip for the first time, coming out from the Mojave wasteland. Once again, I was confronted by the reality that I either needed enough caps or a lot of science skill speech check to get past the damn Securitrons. Neither of which, of course, I possessed. For the record, this mod adds a lot of armed Followers of the Apocalypse doctors, guards and NPCs squatting right next to the Strip's main entrance. So I did what I do, I turn around and start walking back to Freeside when out of nowhere, I get jumped by a Freeside thug. He spawned quite a bit away from me, but boy was he in for a show. The securitrons as well as the Followers NPCs added by this mod spotted him from afar and started shooting him up. I don't who took him down but apparently, during this whole, rather commonplace, song and dance, one of the Securitron's bullets grazed one of the Followers NPCs. Before I could understand what happened, bullets started flying; this time with five times the intensity. A war had broken out between the Securitrons and the Followers NPCs. Within seconds, it was clear that the Followers might be altruistic, but they aren't weak and they definitely don't take s*** from anyone, not even the Strip's only law enforcement. By the time the shooting was over, every last Securitron had fallen. How many did the Followers lose? One doctor. Hot damn, but these NPCs are hardened muthas. Anyways, now that the Securitrons were dead, I was duty-bound to relieve them of their belongings. As I appraoched the "bodies" of the Securitrons to search them, lo and behold, EACH ONE OF THEM of them had the Vegas gate key.
Thank you, Followers!
And of course, this is why sandbox games are so much fun. The unpredictability of the direction the game is headed makes it twice as interesting to me. Anything can happen!
What an awesome story, that is pretty hilarious. I've never had this specific event happen but I love when random events turn groups hostile on each other. Thanks for sharing!

Do not use that mod, it is not currently compatible with the latest updates.
