Downloaded this, found out none of these pets have any soundfiles. Deleting this mod literally broke my game. Anyone finding this in 2024, don't bother. Amateur stuff

Would it be ok to use the one of the vested dog meshes (and the vest textures) in a mod (well really a patch) for a companion I'm making?

Thx for this mod, if there is any interest i have fixed all the creatures so they now auto-heal on combat exit and i've dropped their HP back down to normal levels, also fixed it so they now scale properly with the player.

    Again thx for the mod

Please, PLEASE upload this mod fix of yours! It would be greatly appreciated, Bullets and Shrapnel are near dead and I love having them around. I just hope my Field Medic perk (From the More Perks mod - http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35979/? ) will be able to revive them to full HP when they die. Their names are perfect for my character since I'm role playing him as a stereotypical combat medic (EdgeMelee, Pistols, SMGs, Shotguns, Semi-Auto rifles,Thrown Explosives)

RP'ing furry companions (Limit 2 sets of 4 legs)
      Medic (Bullets & Shrapnel)
      Sniper (Bullets & Farsight)
      Soldier (Bullets & Shrapnel)
      Scout (Farsight & Zippy)
      Spy (Zippy & Digger)
Heavy Weapons Guy (Digger & Mezcal)

Not sure how I missed your post in the first place, but sure, if you want to upload an edited plugin I would have no problem with that. I cann't give permission to upload all of the models or textures, as they're not mine, but a plugin would be perfectly fine.

Will this work with Torch - Fire gecko companion since it spawns him in Goodsprings schoolhouse too?

"They will kill the mantises in the school house if you don't get them first."
Me, who actually has a horrible fear of large insects and despises the mantises: "Excellent."
Edit: This is one of my new essential. Military dogs for the WIN!! Thank you for making such an amazing mod!

Sweet, glad to make dreams come true.
Edit:  Funny thing, I wasn't much of a "dog person" in real life.  There's a saying "art imitated life", but sometimes life imitates art.  I put this mod together with story ideas in mind for a lot of the critters.  Mezcal (I think it was) was slated to be a sort of guide dog for a blind character a dear friend was making photo stories for.  A friend I met on a virtual world was raising money for a charity called "Dogs for the Deaf" (apparently they've rebranded as "Dogs for Better Lives" now) and opened my eyes to some of the amazing things that dogs can do.  Still, I wasn't much of a dog person.

My wife has been dealing with a disability pretty much all her life that, if not properly managed, is potentially life-threatening every single day.  This is part of the reason I had to back off from modding when I did, because her disability was literally threatening her life while we slept and I would stay up for days at a time to watch over her while she slept and parent our children during the day.  We eventually learned that there were service dogs trained to help mitigate her disability by alerting when life-threatening  conditions were present (by smelling the changes in body chemistry through changes in the scent of human breath!) and we looked into acquiring one.

It took several years to save up the money needed to acquire and train the dog as insurance was absolutely useless and all the charities we contacted weren't interested in helping individuals - they get more attention and donations when they help organizations and large groups - and eventually we received our very own service dog.  He works very hard for my wife and literally saves her life on a regular basis.  I can sleep soundly at night now, confident that he'll wake me up when action is needed.  While that's his most important job, he's smarter than a lot of people I know and become an important part of our family.

Thanks for your comment, which prompted me to reflect on things.  My initial plan, when releasing this mod, was to open a donation link to help dog charities, which never happened.  After the experiences mentioned above, and thanks to the Nexus Mod Rewards Program, I can make that happen on my own now without mod downloaders needing to pay in at all.

Reading this gives me even greater respect for you than I already had, Brig.  I'm very glad to hear your own four-legged friend is helping to keep your life happier and healthier.  Cheers, friend.

Can you give more information, or perhaps a screenshot of the issue? I'm not hearing about this from anyone else.

Three of the five animals in the schoolhouse are invisible, except for their floating eyes - only Mezcal (without his pack) and the gecko are visible. Are DLCs required to properly display the others? Also, Digger wasn't in the schoolhouse at all - is there a reason why? Disabling the mod for now...

It sounds like you've installed an update or optional without the main mod perhaps?  Maybe try toggling archive invalidation?  The only thing I can say for sure is that it sounds like the models aren't being loaded correctly.

I reinstalled New Vegas after a long time of not playing it.
THIS is one of the mods I consider truly essential.
    Thanks again!

Glad you enjoy it.  This mod was quite a learning experience.  I'm surprised nobody's built a better version after all these years.
