    FAQ's (Taken from the readme which largely goes unread):

    Q: Why is my game crashing on startup?
    A: Make sure you have the required plugins (listed above) in your load order and activated.

    Q: After I installed the mod, I see a bunch of exclamation points and there is no voice acting. What gives?
    A: reinstall the mod to the correct directory, the "Data" folder in your Fallout: New Vegas folder. Not Data/Data.

    Q: Is this compatible with New Vegas Bounties?
    A: Absolutely - Russell complements those mods, particularly NVBII, but only if you're using the latest versions. NVBI: 1.5+, NVBII: 1.3+.

    Q: Can Legion-Friendly players recruit Russell?
    A: Yes, though you should be aware of his innate hostility towards the Legion. He will attack any Legion personnel on sight, with no exceptions.

    Q: Why does my game keep crashing during the attack on Silverwood?
    A: That encounter tends to demand more resources than typical gameplay. If the issue persists, type this in the console: setstage xx005c11 164 (xx is the mod index). You will skip the battle.

    Q: Can I play "Hunter, Hunted" without Russell?
    A: Absolutely not. You need Russell in your company, and not waiting, in order to advance the quest. It is possible to break the quest if you undertake it without Russell.

    Q: Why can't I return to Caruthers Canyon?
    A: I haven't scripted the proper "evolution" yet (maybe in an update), so I'd prefer to keep it off-limits until then.

    Q: Why is there so much profanity? Could you make a version without it?
    A: Russell's dialogue is peppered by a litany of swear words, but I believe it makes him more realistic. There will not be a censored build.

    Q: Why is this file tagged as "Adult-Only"
    A: Profanity and gratuitous violence, including the depiction of dead infants. The massacres in this mod are meant to be visceral, if not shocking.

    Q: Is there a romance option with Russell?
    A: No, and there probably never will be, unless you're a cheap prostitute.

    Q: Why is he overpowered/underpowered?
    A: I stopped agonizing over combat balancing a long time ago. If you don't like his stats, open the GECK and change them.

    Q: Why is this mod so hard?
    A: I prefer to design challenging (but not maddening) content, as it stimulates adaptation and new approaches from the player, and also intensifies the sense of accomplishment. Open the GECK and change it if the balancing bothers you.

    Q: I want to find EVERY INCH of content - where is it?
    A: Unlike some of my other mods, there is not a huge amount of scripted encounters. There are a few, but you'll just have to play to find them. Sorry, completionists.

    Q: Can I shut Russell up?
    A: Sure, shoot him.

    Q: How often will you update Russell?
    A: At a minimum, every time I make another quest mod, so as to make Russell compatible and include some mod-specific dialogue.

    Q: Is Russell better with melee weapons or ranged weapons?
    A: It's pretty close, actually. Stick with your preference.

    Q: Who is Albert Breach?
    A: Google it, and prepare to be amazed.

    Russell has always been one of the top-tier quest and follower mods for this game, but time hasn't done it many favors. So now I'm throwing my hat in the ring of "weird issues that didn't used to exist" that has begun collecting here.

    For some reason, I have a consistent crash in the battle to defend Silverwood. It's not the classic memory issues that Someguy suspected and attempted to patch with the alternative plugin, but rather... something with the Centurions who spawn in the later waves. They spawn, the game crashes, every time. Yvile's Crash Logger points each time to the same NPC, "aaLvlSWLegionaryCenturionLast" with a Base ID of "XX0133D3," and the same happens in using placeatme to conjure this NPC, even on a totally clean install with only Russell and its prerequisites (and Crash Logger).

    It really puzzles as to how this has happened. Russell didn't have this problem when I played back in 2018, long after the final patch. Has there been some sort of emergent conflict with newer NVSE versions? Has the Nexus' archived version corrupted in a very specific way? I've downloaded and redownloaded, tried the old versions, all to no avail. Maybe somebody with xEdit or GECK knowledge can look into this, but I'm stumped.

    At any rate, thanks for all the good times, someguy. The art has always been worth the hassle.

    I LOVE NOT BEING ABLE TO SAVE DURING THE FINAL BATTLE BECAUSE WHENEVER I SAVE OR OPEN MY PIPBOY OR LOOK THE WRONG DIRECTION MY GAME CRASHES ITS SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!! ITS INSANE THAT AFTER ALMOST 11 YEARS THE MOD AUTHOR HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THIS GARBAGE :)

    This may have been answered a long time ago, but alas I could not find an answer. After completing the companion quest Russell had decided he does not wish to move. He will still aggro onto enemies in range but for some reason he will never sheath after combat or walk to follow me. If anyone has an answer to this conundrum please let me know. Thank you and have a wonderful night.

      I had this happen to me twice, the first time I reinstalled since I had barely done any of his quest yet. The second time I reloaded a save where he was still moving and continued on as if nothing happened.

      If you beat the whole quest and have this happen to you, I would either load an old save where he is still moving or re-install the mod and just use CC to set the quest stage to completion and add any loot/perks via CC.

    Are there any more recent ways to fix the Hendershot glitch? Most of the suggestions recommend reloading an earlier save file and waiting for Hendershot to finish at the computer before talking to him but I don't have a save file before I can load (at least not one that will send me back a few quests etc). Or should I just cut my losses and kill him to carry on?

      I did some digging in FNVEdit and I believe these console commands (CC) will allow you to progress without killing Hendershot. My recommendation is to load an old save and wait for Hendershot to be done at his terminal and address you about the Tunneller's entering the cave to get access to everything easily. However this is a workaround.

      XX = Mod Index

      After Killing all Tunnellers attacking the rail station at Mount Cholla and unable to progress dialogue with Hendershot DO NOT TALK TO HIM AFTER YOU USE THE FIRST AND SECOND DIALOUGE OPTIONS, use the following commands in the CC.

      To enable the optional task of killing the Queen Tunneller (This stage spawns in the Queen Tunneller):

      setstage XX005c11 42

      Then go to the location of the Queen Tunneller and kill her. After this, return to Hendershot's Location and enter the following command in CC: 

      setstage XX005c11 45

      Then to get the next objective, enter the following 3 CC:

      setstage XX005c11 50
      player.additem XX02a977 1
      showmessage XX02a978


      The 1st command sets the quest stage to as if you just finished helping Hendershot and he tells you where to go next.
      The 2nd command adds the item Henderson's Log which he would give you after helping him.
      The 3rd command is the message that is supposed to show up on you screen when he hands you the Log, giving context on what to do next.

      This will leave Hendershot alive and allow you to progress with the rest of the story. However, with this workaround he doesn't give you the flashbangs to fight the Tunnellers and Queen, you can't access his Trading Inventory, and his railcar is not available for use (Not sure if the railcar gets enabled after changing quest stages).

      To get flashbangs, use this in CC (He is supposed to give you 2 flashbangs if you offer to help with the Queen):

      player.additem 04004c35 2

      To trade with Hendershot DO NOT TALK TO HIM!!! Open console commands, select Hendershot and type to following:

      showbartermenu

      To use the railcar, there is the way out to the entrance of the caverns and the one to get deep into the mountain.

      To Exit the Mountain use this CC: showmessage XX021b90
      To Enter the Mountain to get back to Hendershot use this CC: showmessage XX021b97

      You'll use these anytime you wish to see Hendershot and not walk back to him if the cart doesn't work.

      If you don't find the Queen Tunneller in The Tunneller's Nest which is to the West (follow the Train Tracks past the radioactive train car down the long hall, you'll fight two more tunnellers and the entrance is an anthill coming out of the wall on the left), you'll need to spawn her if you wanted to fight her. I recommend before spawning in the enemies, you use the console command tcai to disable enemy combat which will allow you to get some distance since they will spawn right next to you. Before starting the fight use the tcai command again to enable enemy combat.

      To spawn her, use this in CC:

      player.placeatme XX01fba5 1

      She has about 8 to 9 extra tunnellers with her in the cave but if there is nothing in the Tunneller's Nest and you want the whole fight you'll need to use this CC as well:

      player.placeatme XX01cbaa 8

      My guess is if you used this workaround and get to the end of the questline, this will allow Hendershot to be alive but I'm not sure if he would get his best ending. Let me know if you find out. I hope this helps!

    It would've been very helpful to have a list with the NPC's ID so that you can just pop them into existence in case they don't spawn. I cannot do the "Hunted, Hunted" quest due to Vickers not spawning.

      I used FNVEdit to figure this out, you can use it to find any ID for anything in the game and mods you are using.

    Had no issues with this mod, but after completing the questline and Russel receives his upgrades, he no longer follows me. I still have him as a companion, and he'll teleport with me to areas, but after that he's just frozen in place not moving an inch. I found a lot of people also having this issue but no fix. Just gonna have to disable the mod since bugs are not being fixed anymore.

    Is there any way to fix this GECK Log error?

    Anybody else come across the problem of their screen going extremely dark and not going back to normal. It seems to get darker every time I go into the cholla mountain where hendershot lives.

      go in and out of the cave it worked for me
