So I finally decided it was time to update this; I wasn’t really sure I ever was but after watching a video of someone using the mod I decided I just had to do something about the voice acting because I couldn’t stand listening to it.
The main feature of this update is that the voice acting has been entirely redone so that he no longer sounds quite so depressed/bored anymore. There are also a number of different things he says for when you give commands.
I have added an option to choose whether or not Desmond is essential in hardcore mode after you finish his quest.
Desmond’s default weapon has now been changed to the cowboy repeater so it’s now weaker meaning he’s more likely to use weapons you give him.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I have uploaded a new file to this mod Desmond companion v1.5, here's a list of the changes I've made in this version:
The option to choose a home for Desmond
The option for Desmond to unholster his weapon at the same time you do
Combat dialogue, and the option to turn it of
Adds slightly more to the backstory
Two companion perks you can choose from
There is now more than one thing he says for the companion wheel comands
And lastly a few fixes; for example the not being able to speak to him bug is now gone
I am still going to be adding more to it in the future; the next thing I'm planning on adding is some idle chatter so he can comment on various different places stuff like that...
