First of all, thank you very much to all who have endorsed this file!
I stopped playing New Vegas some time ago, which is why I don't really check up on any of my New Vegas Mods anymore. However, I recently re-made this sword for Fallout 3 with improved 3D modeling tools and techniques and I am so pleased with the result that I decided to replace the older versions I had made for New Vegas with the new model.
The new version has much better geometry and textures.
I initially released this as a Modder's Resource (and it still is). Nonetheless, I did add a playable .esp to the new version to make creating your own mod much easier: just open the .esp in the G.E.C.K. and edit whatever you want about the weapon. And if anyone just wants to have the weapon in their game but doesn't want to do any modding of their own, they can.
i downloaded your mod but it didn't show up, and i activated it via data files and place it in the right location and somehow it wouldn't show up in game.
Can someone please help me? Somehow everytime I open it in GECK it gets the textures messed up and recognizes it as the Chinese Officers Sword. So therefore I can't get it to actually show up as the Cavalry Saber
I apologize, but I stopped playing New Vegas quite a while ago, and I stopped checking this site as well.
One common cause for problems with mods with new meshes and textures is Archive Invalidation. Another is the resource files not being placed in their correct paths within the " Data " folder. If the problem is with the G.E.C.K., well unfortunately there are a number of small things that one could overlook that would prevent the weapon from working.
In any case, I recommend downloading the new version (4), which has a working plugin file, and using that as a base for your own mod.

It's a beautiful sword and i appreciate the idea of whetstones to get it repaired.
My Compliments!

It's a resource file. You're supposed to make your own esp.
Thank you so much, nofear88, for the suggestion and your help with this!!
