About this mod

Replaces Boones spotter effect with a targeting crosshair that will follow hostiles, even when out of sight.

Permissions and credits

Description
Removes the glowing red skin effect and replaces it with a simple target crosshairs. While holding down aim the crosshair it will track the opponent every few seconds and will even highlight enemies out of sight.

The reticule is very basic right now, as this is just a quick beta. And the ability to track out of sight, gives no more advantage than the normal in game radar.

And you should note that the reticule updates at intervals, and does not follow the target in between updates. For close fast moving enemies this will mean the reticule is always behind the enemy. The faster optional updates will remove this problem, but also increase the 'flicker' effect. Try the default, then speed it up until it meets your own preference.

NOTE: This also lets you spot enemies with stealth fields.

People familiar with The Combat Assistant mod should recognise this effect. This uses a similar method, but just in a much simpler form and only for people who have Boones Spotter perk (or the TAC item from my Advanced Recon Thermal Nightvision mod). Please note: It does not change what is detected, just the visual effect of something when it is detected. You will still need either Boone as a companion, or some object/effect that gives a similar perk.

Reason for making this
Partly I just don't like the effect for what is essentially Boone pointing to enemies, and partly it interferes with my Advanced Recon Thermal Nightvision mods TAC functions. On that mod I do something similar, but it feels reasonable as it is an optical device doing the highlighting, not another sniper.

Installation
Copy the ESP and textures folder into your games Data folder.

If the updating is too slow for you, use on of the optional extras to speed up the targetting. Be warned: The faster the updating, the more the effect 'flickers'. There is no real way around this.

Other mods that might work well with this
1.Keep companion perks: lets you keep Boones perk even if he leaves you.
2.Advanced Recon Thermal Nightvision: Hi-tech items that give similar effect to Boones perk (aswell as Rex and EDEs).
