First: Matt1116, I sincerely hope that you don't talk like this in real life. I know you were an avid mIRC-er and now you're avid about messengers but give it a rest, will you? Not everybody's a chatter-freak. If you want to post something, have some consideration (if you even know what that is) and use plain old english, not the pre-cut jibberish that you use.

Yes, I'm aware that Mr. 1116 is not likely to come back and read this, I'm thinking that maybe another chatter-freak reads this and thinks twice (fat chance of that - "stupidity and the universe", said Einstein) before writing half or quarter words.

    Second : cliffracers.
The lore of Morrowind doesn't specifically say they're reptiles. Remember, Cliffracer FEATHERS (or plumes) are the ingredient that you collect from them. Of course, you could argue that reptiles with feathers did exist in Earth's ancient history and that cliffracers look more like pterodactyls than birds. On that note : where the heck are their legs ??

A bit of wisdom : "insects to fill the air and birds to fill the sky".

Ever wondered how bare and bleak would be the atmosphere with no flyers to fill it? How sad would our skyes be without the majestic passing of an eagle or the merry flutter of a sparrow?

Flyers, such as cliffracers or netch have a specific role in the overall feel of things Morrowind.

You don't want them bothering you ?!? Simple.

    A. use a chameleon or invisibility spell. I believe "Concealment" exists for this very reason.

    B. go all the way to 100 athletics and 100 acrobatics and just leave them eating your dust. I tried it, it works.
Of course, you'll be collecting a few dozens of them this way, but then you can simply use an area effect spell and presto ! "God's Frost" from the mage in "Dirty Muriel's Cornerclub" near Wolverine Hall is my favourite for just such cases.
As an added note, cliffracers have a speed of 200. You can open a Construction Set and set their speed to, say... 50, but this will only make them only look like they're in some buggy slow-motion since their animation is related to their speed.

    C. Use silt-striders and boats and when you HAVE to be in the wild just pick them off with arrows or bolts ("Greyshaft of Holding" paralisys arrows recommended).

    D. Use a hardy but slower companion. They tend to come from behind and attack whoever's closer or left behind.

    E. They fly on a relatively limited plane, only flying higher if they already spotted you. Just levitate well above their level.

    F. Use the "Boots of Blinding Speed". A "200+yours" speed will outrun ANY creature in the game. It does however cause problems with the loading of new cells on older computers. I even got a couple of plain old crushes while using them.

    Best cure?
Open that wonderfull Construction Set and make the traveller's friend : a simple 100 chameleon constant effect ring.
Add to it a pretty little quest, say... some guy will only sell it if you bring him... 100 cliffracer feathers (lol). This is only to make such a powerfull item come with a story, not just pick it up from the ground in Seyda Neen like I've seen some careless guys do with their new items.
Of course such an item WILL unbalance the game since it makes you the perfect thief, assassin, even hero.

    Want balance ? Invisibility potions.
To add to it, make them yourselves. No, not in the CS. In the game. Diamonds and... bittergreen ?

See? Cliffracers are not that bad after all ! They give you stuff to do, give a purpose for your actions, colour the world in more than one way.

In time you might just grow to like them. I know I did.

Well, this has been my longest post yet, wow.

    Many smiles !!

Oh yippee, just what I've always wanted: something that makes Cliff racers ever more annoying. Still, I might try this out for the extra challenge if nothing else.

I'll be honest..I'm a CliffRACIST through-N-through B^), I even made a mod that has golden eggs/Coins (@ 25%-75% Chance so no worries for the Uber-Phobes ;^D) because they're mostly Irritating, and useless..In fact I've named the mod "Useful Cliffracers!"

I do however, applaud your efforts (Even if it's making the intolerable even more so! LOL ;^D) so much so, that I've decided to give this a DL & Play!

Thanks aLOT for modding for Morrowind, as it's 2010, right now, and I'm so glad to see that even MW still has life in it 10 yrs later!

    I know it's hard to be original but... M E G A ?
Couldn't you go, at least, for something like... ancient, ferral, berserk, greater, dire,...?!?

Cliff Racers are like giant flying repliles...they not that annpoying though, its just that they tend to float away from you and still somehow seem to hit you in mid air, and escape is impossible (they easy though, I can cream them with my lvl1 character =D)

Gee, I wonder how many people downloaded this? Oh, wait, I remember, ONE! Cliff Racers were annoying for me, and for most everyone. If you make this for Oblivion, be sure to modify Imps (or if someone else does)!
