Be aware that this will break the Redoran Hortator quest, as replacing Bolvyn Denim's armor causes everybody to think you stole his original full set of ebony armor off of his corpse after the duel with him. Workaround by adding full ebony armor (minus helm and shields) to Bolvyn's corpse after killing him in the duel.
I'm working on updating this mod currently. Not seeing anything in the CS that states this to be a restriction of the Redoran Hortator quest, nor am I seeing it anywhere on UESP. Can anyone confirm this is the case in vanilla? It's been a very long time since I've played this quest.
All I could find on the UESP: No clue how the game detects it, though. Can't find anything in Bolvyn's script or the Vivec Arena script, and there aren't any scripts attached to his armor. No luck searching through dialogue, either.
Better bodies is not required. It means that it's based on the better bodies models, so the armor is not segmented. You may experience minor clipping if you don't use better bodies, but in the same way as if you wear vanilla armor with better bodies enabled.
As an example, if you wear pauldrons but not gauntlets, you may have some clipping at the forearm where the armor ends and skin begins.

could you make a version that does not replace Venim's ebony armour?
