I presume there aren't any plans to make this work with OpenMW? Does anyone know an alternative house buying mod that does work with OpenMW? Thanks

Sadly I unninstalled it after not taking long to three houses not working: I tried Balmora, Caldera and Vivec.
Balmora got me many errors, and for a manor that expensive... it's in the back of the Hlaalu council. Besides that, the house is quite shallow and doesn't provide much storage.
Vivec worked fine, just an error or two, but the killer for me was it being completely alien AND the entrance being at the entrance of the city... really? For instance, AST Vivec free quarters gave a much more believable placing.
Finally, regarding Caldera, the purchase gave a few errors, but when going to talk about furniture at the store, clicking the topic gave me a harsh CTD.

For reference, my game is very close to vanilla, without overhauls and very few mods modifying a bit of one city or another, locally.

Personally I simply recommend not using this mod, and if any experienced modder is reading this and wants to revive this mod, either revamp the furniture purchasing or disable it, also the placement of the houses is terrible.

Holy f*#@, this. The placement of the Vivec house is the dumbest s#*! I've ever seen, and now every time I go there I have to be reminded of it. There is literally no other house in Vivec that sits outside of the cantons except for this one, and on top of that it is right at the entrance where you would never ever put a house. Lazy and immersion destroying.

Just wanted to jump in and say, on my barely modded Morrowind(in a completely new-game save), there hasn't been any issues what so ever(Using Mod Organizer 2 as well), so anyone else coming on and wondering about trying this mod, but being scared away by all the comments about lots of issues(script errors, CTDs, etc), I at least had no issues, so probably issue on these people's end, rather than with the actual mod. I checked Caldera, Balmora and Ald-Ruhn, before and after furnishing it, and absolutely no issues at all.

Also using the excellent Furniture Store mod by Dave Humphrey, which are 100% compatible with each-other.

There is however some minor conflicts with Remiros groundcover for the Balmora house(some floating rocks and some grass on the balcony), but it's very, very minor(especially comparing to the furniture store's complete remodelling of an entire hill side causing flying grass everywhere).

I get missing furniture error messages when i try this mod...seems a lot bug reports below also a shame because Buy a House mod, really needs an Overhaul.

    I have given my endorsement.

However I don't understand why you gave the topic to purchase the Sadrith Mora house to Mallam Ryon since the main quest requires to kill Gothren which makes Ryon disappear. The mod would have been better if you gave the topic to a NPC who doesn't disappear because of a quest.

Not sure if I am missing a patch because I am not using any grass textures like MGSO
In addition when I downloaded the add-on all I got was a "buy a house .esp" in a .zip file with no other files like meshes, textures or a .bsa
I can't buy furniture because the kajiit in Balmora doesn't have any listed due to the obviously missing files.
I could always additems using console commands but that's a pain in the butt.
Can anyone who happens along this post tell me what they received in their better houses download folder? Much appreciated.

      Hi,

The mod is just the ESP file. There are no missing meshes or textures as the mod uses those already available in the base game.

I've checked the mod with the CS and this is what happens. Before you buy any house, the interior of them already exists and all the furniture is already in place. Then, when you buy a house, the dialog option has an associated script that updates your journal, gives you the key to the house, adds the furniture topic so that you can buy the furniture for the house and disables all the furniture already in place inside the house. That way, when you enter the house, it's empty, but the furniture it's still there, just invisible and you can't interact with it. When you buy a set of furniture, the script for that topic enables the corresponding furniture for that set. Then, back at the house, that set has become visible again and can be interacted with.

To do all this, the mod has to individually enable or disable every single object inside the house. Those errors that you see are references to objects that do not exist inside the house. What I think is happening is that the author made some changes in the houses, adding or removing furniture, and forgot to remove the references to those objects from the dialog scripts.

I tried to fix it so that I could use it in my current playthrough, but it's too much work for me.

Hi, I come from the fantastic future of 2019! Anyways, I downloaded this mod - it works like a charm with a few executables popping up and I click okay and nothing bad happens. HOWEVER, the second I buy my house in Caldera and go to the Pawnshop, without fail every time (without me monkey'ing around with the .ini files or being utterly confused at the TES: CS because my brain melts when I look at all those lines of code) By which time the game freezes and I get an error sound pop-up and the game crashes.

Halp (:<) I have no idea why Caldera crashes every time I try to buy Furniture at the Pawnshop. probably because I didn't brush my teeth, oh well.

EDIT: After still having problems with the one prompt to clicking on furniture option in the dialogue, I bought each item individually without the game crashing so that one conversation prompt about asking about purchasing furniture is game crashing without fail but buying them individually works. Someone smarter than me please help me understand why one prompt is broken whereas just buying the items one at a time for the Caldera house is easier?

The furniture topic for Irgola adds a "furnishngs" topic that does not exist and that is what causes the crash. Editing the topic to remove that fixes it.

Other errors such as "function reference object ... not found." are caused by trying to enable or disable a missing instance of an object. For example, when buying the house in Caldera it shows errors for "CalderaStorage6", "CalderaStorage18" and "CalderaStorage25". "CalderaStorage25" does not exist in the mod (maybe it did exist in a previous version). "CalderaStorage6" does exist, but there's no instance of that object in the house. I think those two can be safely removed from the topic script. However, "CalderaStorage18" exists as an object and there's an instance on the house (a sack in the attic), so I do not know why it can't find it. Maybe someone with more modding experience can find what is causing that error.

Endorsed. Had no problem with the houses, except with the Balmora and Sadrith Mora ones, that asked me the overwrite thing, but the on the other side it's excellent. I'd like a basement in the Caldera house, but it's just me. Good job!

Unfortunately I also have a lot of problems like people commenting below me. This mod seemed to be working fine for me until I tried to buy furniture for my Caldera or Pelagiad home. (get all those missing script errors and missing "CalderaStorage..." etc.) Have not tested the other homes yet.
What also annoys me is the typo in Pelagiad everywhere in the mod --> PelEgiad? (can't walk into that home without reading it everytime)

So for now, all those error messages are a dealbreaker for me. Looked really promising though. Original 'Buy A House' was just a tad too empty for me.
