I think this error is occuring because either you or the creator of BMA (or both) are using unconvention names for the meshes (i.e. the cuirass can be fixed by overwriting the cuirass mesh from better morrowind armor mod with yours). Though the problem is you two used different naming convention which is causing this error as not all the assets are overwritten (only pauldrons and helm is overwritten as these use the same naming convention)
Works perfectly for me and looks amazing. One of the best armors for Morrowind ever done on par with Hedgehog's Better Armor series. Dunno what the whole talk about a fix is about, since I haven't encountered any problems.
Edit: now that I think of it, I actually DID encounter one minor problem - the coloration of the boots is somewhat off compared to the rest of the armor (it's a bit too bright compared to the darker colour of the rest of the armor), but that's such a minor detail that it's barely worth mentioning. 10/10 job.
thanks, i have tried to fix that, but i think it has to do with emissive materials that are different from other ones. if i can find the correct material to use i will see if the texture itself is too light or dark after that, but like you said it is minor.
the fix i was talking about was the first release, there were gloves in it, and those gloves were supposed to be attached to the bracers as gauntlets, but the problem was the file was not working like it should, and the esp killed the player, so lots of us have been trying to come up with some working gauntlets, because bare hands look silly with this set of armor.
so the fix will be to get some working gauntlets in the game, and then to upload that as an update.
until then it is simply a 1:1 replacer for the vanilla armor. after the fix it will be more than a 1:1 replacer (crossing fingers)
my hugest obstacle is i run in linux, so blender, python and nifscripts dont work the same as someone in windows, and i cant access things in the CS very well. so i have to rely on other people to help, and it is complicated as a result. if just one of the methods we are trying would work then we would have some gauntlets for everyone, but right now it seems like something in the distant future. every time i get my hopes up, things are back to square one.
The problem with this mod is that the meshes aren't named according to the usual Morrowind convention, so you will run into a slew of compatibility issues when running various other mods that affect the standard dwemer meshes. Most notably being the most useful armor mod: Better morrowind armor
Awesome mod! I never liked the original Dwemer armor set. Endorsed.
However, I personally feel that the textures, while well made, are way too dark and dim. I significantly upped the brightness & saturation in Photoshop and I think they became a lot better-looking, and also now match the existing dwarven creatures and weapons better. (I also added 'blank' knee pieces to the boots in the Construction Set to remove a clipping issue with pants.) screenshot
I won't release my edited version (unless you want me to), but I would recommend making an alternate brighter version available.
p.s. I noticed that the boots are still a bit brighter than the other pieces when in a dark location: screenshot p.p.s. You can halve the filesize of your textures by saving as DXT1 instead of DXT5 when no alpha channel info is needed. (BTW, My blurry screenshots are imgur's fault, not anything I did to the textures.)
well i think i uploaded a fix for the boots, but YMMV depending on the setup you have. in my game the boots were darker than the rest, especially down low, so it has to do with world shading more than anything i figure. Or it could be the material, i have no idea, i tried to fix it and i never could figure it out. I got close but since the mod was dragging out, i released it with slight dissatisfaction on the boots. If anyone with more experience can fix it and get them all to match, then be my guest. I made sure the color matched in gimp because everything was done at the same time, but the material can throw the color off that much, and changing the texture wont help.
You are more than welcome to upload your texture variant for this armor, although i was attempting to go more toward true metallic. I am all about options. So upload away.
Heck if you want to, you can make a Santa Claus skin for the vanilla inspired dwemer helmet or heck even make it look like a gnome lawn ornament. (my little joke)
I would really like to see a better metallic texture on this though, since i have no idea how to achieve that in linux with the tools i have. at least not yet anyway.
The texture format was recommended by someone else, and i just kind of got in the habit of making it DXT5, so if it can be converted no problem i guess i can upload a few alternate files for those. One at lower resolution, and one in DXT1
I've nearly got a standalone version of this working, but I've run into problems specifically that on females no textures show up the armor is just grey, and just trying to equip the armor on males crashes the game.
uploaded a new version two file. cleaned the esp with testool, and removed some files that did not belong (old experimental and obsolete nifs) this should be the final version of the main mod. in the future there will only be some nif updates and texture updates to accommodate the new features of openmw and mgexe and possibly another esp that will allow for all three helms to be available in the world.

I also included a few fixes (or what I consider fixes) that you may want to use when/if you release another update.
make sure the esp is last in the load order because the gloves will not work unless it is last.
