I honestly couldn't say with confidence either way as I haven't used it. I recommend just manually dropping the files into their respective locations in the directory to be on the safe side.

This looks nice, I'll use it as part of my first playthrough . Just a question, why is the version 4.0 not available here at Nexus, but only at mw.modhistory.com/download-56-7332 ?

Apologies for the late response. My notifications are apparently not functioning correctly at the moment. Version 4 is available here at the Nexus! http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43631/? Thanks for the interest!

Unfortunately, that would be a good bit of work for a mod that I no longer actively support but I appreciate your kind words!

So much of what has been released for Morrowind in recent years hews very strictly, even severely at times, to the vanilla style. Truly imaginative interpretations, like Vibrant Morrowind, have not been treated with the same respect as some of the shoddily executed upscaled and sharpened vanilla textures that have become the norm.

Thanks for sharing something genuinely creative and beautiful with the community.

P.S. You really should add more screenshots or a link to a gallery.

It's very gratifying to know that something Skydye and I put some much time and effort into is still appreciated all these years later, especially since he and I have all but disappeared into the "Where are They Now" of the Old Modder's Club.

When I uploaded this, it was really just so that those who used to use it would have access to it, and to update the permissions during the monetized mod debacle. It didn't occur to me that new players would have much interest in this type of mod, so I only included one screenshot for identification. I'll toss more up when I get the chance.

There would always be some of Vibrant's colors shining through Visual Pack, Connary's or whatever other texture set you chose. I thing Fliggerty was the one to suggest that approach.

I wondered if the paid mods debacle might have been a motivation to bring this back to the public. If you are updating permissions, you should take a look around Morrowind Modding History for your mods, and add whatever permission updates you see fit. The people at MMH are very helpful, if a little understaffed ATM, but I'm sure they will be happy to assist you. As it is, most of the mods were quickly transferred from PES and don't seem to have been updated since they were re-hosted.

Even with the lack of publicity Vibrant 3 shows 15,817 downloads, Vibrant 4 shows 11,662 downloads. Not bad for the "Where Are They Now" club! ;-)

It would be really great to see Shadows and Light get a re-release as well.

Again, thank you! I had no idea that any of my or Skydye's work was being hosted at MMH, nor that it would still have so many downloads. How lovely! The passion that people have shown over the years for the work Skydye and I have done still touches and humbles me, truly. And that is exactly why I was so disturbed by monetized mods. That gratitude, praise and humility that one experiences when their work is so well received is bigger than the monetary reward for me.

    Funny story:

When VM3 was a year or so old, my SO mentioned in passing to his coworkers that I was into gaming. When asked what I liked to play, he answered, and added that I modded, as well. Some of his coworkers were Morrowind players and wanted to know what mods I had made and when my SO told them, their reaction was priceless. "Holy, sh*t, dude! That's YOUR girlfriend? You're so lucky!" haha Talk about humbling!

Considering that all of the screenshots I could find were old enough that they were taken using square 15" monitor (haha), I decided to load up VM 3 and 4 to take some new ones. i had been using the overhaul when I did play lately, as I was too lazy to customize anything if it took effort. As I wandered through the old, familiar areas, remembering work done here or there, I marveled at how terrible some of the textures are (I needed glasses but didn't yet know it when they were created, lol) and also fell in love with them all over again. I think I'll keep a mix of 3.0 and 4.0 for my install.

I'll likely upload S&L in the near future, as well as the piddly mods I have sitting on my storage drive that I either never released or that just weren't as well received. In either case, the gray stone addon for S&L and VM will be uploaded as an option since the gold stone wasn't for everyone.

Thanks again, and I'll check with MMH about updating permissions.

Delighted to help. I still have lots of unfinished or not even started questlines in Morrowind. I've actually never even finished Blooodmoon! I was always saving it for the proverbial rainy day! I want to play it before I finally do the Dragonborn DLC, but the way it's going I'll probably do them in reverse order.

Right now, my eyes are giving me trouble, which makes it too difficult to focus on the small text of the Morrowind dialogue font for very long, but that will hopefully be solved next month. Then I will try and get back to my beloved Morrowind.

    A few additional hosting possibilities:

Great House Fliggerty has a site that's more oriented toward new mods than archiving older mods, as MMH is primarily designed to do: http://download.fliggerty.com/home
You can get a showcase page there, IMS.

There are some other good options worth investigating for mod hosting. Wolflore is mostly known as an adult oriented mod site, but they host lots of non-adult material as well. I'm certain Jac and Elaura would be more than happy to set up a showcase site to feature your mods. It's SFW, unless you log in and opt to see the naughty stuff ;-)  http://www.wolflore.net/index.php

A new site that's most known for hosting the current iteration of the Morrowind Unofficial Patch is The Assimilation Lab. They do offer hosting and mirroring and may be worth a look: http://www.theassimilationlab.com/

Still, for visibility and accessibility, Nexus is probably your best bet.

Looking forward to seeing all your great work return to the public's attention.

Do finish Bloodmoon when your eyes are better! It was a very fun storyline, in my opinion.

I've had an account over at Fliggerty's for years, as has Skydye, but haven't logged in for a very long time. I have no doubt that Flig would provide a page for me if I requested it of him. I'm not too concerned with uploading everywhere, really. Never have been. Skydye was usually the one who handled that part of it. I preferred to just lurk in the shadows, hunched at my desk, making textures. As long as people have access at a few sites if they want the mods, I'm happy with that.

Today, I plan to load up MW and see how VM actually plays with the overhaul installed. It appears that there could be some conflicts and I probably should sort that out since so many people use the overhaul these days (and for good reason, as it's really a good all-in-one).

I am a bit confused about the installation. ReadMe says "If using Vibrant Lights, activate only one version". Problem is, only one version (1.0) exists in the folder. On the other hand, there are two versions for Vibrant Trees. It seems some kind of correction / clarification is needed.

Thanks for the heads up! I was repackaging both 3.0 and 4.0 for upload and I think I forgot to update that snippet of the ReadMe. The correction has been made.

I would assume that you could install it on top of the overhaul to overwrite their textures, providing the author did not package his or her files in a .bsa format or something similar.

*Edit: After installing both the overhaul and VM, it appears that any normal maps would have to be disabled or removed as they will change the look of the textures (unless that is not undesirable to you). Also, be sure to redraw distant lands after overwriting the textures that come with the overhaul with the ones from VM. I am currently working on making additional maps (such as normal maps) for use with VM but it may be a while before I'm finished. Thanks for the great question!
