Is there a mod that puts your bow into a LEFT hand instead? I found it irritating that my character is shooting on a side I won't.. :D

None that I know of, and I don't know if it is even possible. Supposedly, it's possible in OpenMW, or will be, eventually, but if it can already be done, I couldn't find a way to do it, or a mod that does it. Maybe you should ask in their forum, if using OpenMW is an option for you at all.

Thanks for this tutorial, I only did a quick look but it looks very good. Any chance to have more tutorials about animations ?

I'm just learning creature animation right now, but so far I'm only able to rig creature meshes on existing skeletons, but who knows, maybe there will be one in the future. Or is there anything specific, animation-related, that you would like to have a tutorial about? I'm still quite new to animation, so I'm not sure how much I could help.

It's actually not that difficult to do, just a little trial and error on how to apply weight to the vertices so that it looks good. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go into more detail in the next weeks. Basically you need to take a look at the skeleton and find out which nodes correspond to which body part, then you have to create vertex groups for all different nodes and give them the proper weight, which determines how strong the vertices are affected by the movement of the nodes. Vertex groups can even overlap so that one vertex is affected by more than one node, which can help to make smooth transitions between the vertex groups to make it look more natural. You can also use the vertex paint mode to do this, but anyway it's a little tricky and requires a lo of messing around until it looks good.

Just look up vertex groups and weight painting for Blender, that should help. And maybe in a few weeks I'll be able to provide a more detailed tutorial.

creature animation is exactly what I'm looking for ! It would be so amazing if you could do a tutorial for that. Like Papill6n said, rig creature meshes on existing skeletons would be awesome as a tutorial !
After that, any animation tutorials can be interresting. Keep up the good work Pherim, you rock.

Just created a bow from scratch and tried the tutorial. Everything works perfectly. Thank you The tutorial is very easy to follow along with and I only had a few minor bumps (Only due to my blender having a bit different default settings).

I'm glad to hear that! It's good to know that someone actually used it and it worked.
