Sounds like a mod conflict or possibly just a glitch. Never heard this before. I'd look into it, but I don't mod anymore. Any ways, thanks for your support.
Nice! Though I'm not sure I agree with all those choices. An archer on patrol at night wouldn't want to carry a light source, except to keep them warm, and then they'd want the flame blacked out.
Why?
Exposing your eyes to light causes the retina to close, making the darkness seem darker. Torches and lanterns aren't search beams, and by the time an enemy comes close enough to be illuminated, they're too close to use ranged weapons, while you couldn't see them further away because you blinded yourself to the darkness by carrying a torch. Additionally, if there are ranged enemies out in that darkness, you've made yourself a shining target for them. Even if they miss the first shot, you need *both* hands to string and loose an arrow, and tossing a naked flame in a hurry can be as hazardous as being shot at.
It's just tactically _all wrong_.
Also; Why should a female soldier be recognisably different from a male one? I wouldn't want to stand out as, potentially an easy target. In fact, like a male soldier, I wouldn't want to be highly visible from a distance anyway, but I certainly wouldn't want to be *more* visible than the boys. I'd be insulted if being female made me seem like less of a "threat" too. From the point of view of the ranks, I wouldn't want my uniform to encourage fraternisation from my male compatriots, and "beer-goggles" will make a hijab look attractive to a male mind if it associates that with "woman". You've not made them "eye candy" for players either, so the "fantasy" element isn't an answer to your assumption. Don't _strongly_ disagree with this one, and I *do* like the armour you've chosen, but I'm just not sure I understand your reasoning.
I do like there being more females in the Imperial Legion than Bethesda _ever_ include though. It always feels like their diplomacy and persuasion should make them among the _most_ "equal opportunities" of the human races, while on the battle field, at least, that ends up being the Nords.
My apologies for the extremely late post. Been quite busy the past few years.
Any who... I respect your comments, but disagree.
Any soldier, including an archer at night would surely have a light source. God forbid they trip in the dark and fall into the water or worse. Also, in real life, (Dark Ages/Medieval, etc.) nearly any military person carried a torch or lantern. How do expect to see where you're going in the pitch black of night?
The distinguishable females are cosmetic for game only. It was intentional on my part to make them noticeable from the males. I don't see a problem with this.
Thanks again for your comments and hope you enjoy the mod.
I just came here to say you've got some records in your esp that need cleaning....but this comment caught my eye.
Speaking as a crossbow hunter, what bobsobol said is largely correct. It is actually your pupils that contract, not your retina, but still. Having a light source too close to you destroys your night vision, making you less able to see than you would be otherwise.
Nothing you've seen on TV of well-lit castle walls and soldiers carrying torches everywhere is remotely accurate for a guard post position in this day or any other. There's a *reason* sentries are stationed solidly outside the radius of campfires and lights, not the least reason being that if you carry a light, you paint a literally glowing target upon yourself for the enemy. Speaking as a refugee from a nation that's pretty much constantly at some level of war, I can tell you from very bitter experience that the last thing you want - ever - is to be seen, and the survival minded are more than willing to sacrifice a safe well lit walk for the concealment of relative darkness. Takes most "green" city types about a week at a primitive campsite to fully restore their natural night vision, from what I've seen, and most of that week is them just relearning to trust their own kinesthetics, in the absence of glowing illumination showing them where everything is.
I appreciate your comment. You are correct but only partially...
Not all, but many medieval soldiers used torches, candles and horn lamps when they traveled in the dark. You can google it. Or I can provide some links if you wish. Besides, this is a game we are talking about here, and most all the guards in game carry a light source.
As for the cleaning... I don't mod much anymore, so therefore it will most likely stay as is.
