The Uber Crystal Egg Hunt by Bryss Phoenix and Fliggerty
Display Cases Resource by Denina

About: Back in 2006, Bryss Phoenix released this gem of a mod. It places 165 crystal eggs, made by Clavis, in interior cells in Vvardenfell and the player can hunt them down and collect them. Back then, there weren�t mods like Perfect Placement so it was difficult to line them up evenly to make a lovely display for them.

To solve this dilemma, I made display cases and with a little help from my friends, Kiteflyer61 and Spirithawke, I set up a sorting script so the player wouldn�t have to guess which display case each of the eggs went into.

Now, in 2021, we have Perfect Placement and you don�t necessarily need display cases anymore, but they�re still an option. So, I decided to update the mod due to the prevalence of mod managers and to improve the documentation. This file is all-in-one. Only choose one folder in addition to 00 Core:

00 Core � This is all the meshes, textures and icons. This is needed for each versions of the mod.

01 Original Uber Crystal Egg Hunt. Use this if you want to use the original mod with no display cases. Do not use with Mines & Caverns. Just install the Core and the ESP into your data files, activate and play.

02 Uber Crystal Egg Hunt & Display v1.0. Use this if you want to use the display cases with Bryss Phoenix�s original egg placement. The hunt and the display are already merged together. You just need to merge this with your house mod of choice. Instructions, if needed, are below.

03 Uber Crystal Egg Hunt & Display M&C v6.2 Compatible. Use this if you�re using Mines & Caverns v6.2 by jsp25 (https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44893). As with 02, the hunt and the display cases are merged together and you will need to merge this with your house mod of choice. Instructions are below. Note: This mod should load after Mines & Caverns v6.2. Some of the caves were heavily modified in Mines and Caverns v6.2 so some of the eggs had to be moved in order to make it compatible. There is a separate locations document if you need a little help that reflects the new egg placements.

Note: If you want to use this M&C version but don't want the display cases, you can still use this ESP as a stand-alone. Just clean the mod of the AAA-CED room and the activators and activator scripts. Do not remove the scripts on the miscellaneous eggs themselves.

MERGING INSTRUCTIONS

To use 02 or 03:
A) In the construction set, load the master files, the house mod you want the display cases in and the Uber Crystal Egg Hunt v1.0 (if you use 01) OR Uber Crystal Egg Hunt Display M&C v6.2 Compatible.esp (if you use 02). Do not select an active file.

B) Under the File tab, choose Combine Loaded Plugins. You will be prompted to give the file a name. Name the file and press Save.

C) There�s a cell called AAA-CED Room at the top of the cell list with the display cases set up. There�s a North Marker in the northwest corner of the room to aid in orientation. The egg cases are set up in numerical order with the eggs set up in numerical order, 11 display cases with 15 eggs for a total of 165 eggs. Just select and cut the display cases and activator from the AAA-CED Room and paste it into the cell of your choice. Rearrange the display cases where you want them. Save often while doing this part. The CS can crash randomly and I won�t lie, it can be a bit of a pain to line them up just right with all the eggs and bookshelf selected. Prepare to be patient, but I think the effort is worth it.

If you don�t like how the eggs are set up, you may change them. If you change which display case on which an egg is displayed, be sure you modify the script so the activators will be enabled when you put the egg in the container. You should not need to rename anything since only one set of display should be used per game.

There is a barrel in the CS (not put in game) that has one of each of the 165 eggs in it to be used for testing purposes. You should always test that the sorter functions properly. It will if you don�t change which display case the eggs will show up on; but if you do, you will want to test. Don�t forget to remove the barrel when your testing is complete and you�re ready to play. (I�ve done this so many times. *insert self-deprecating grin here*)

The ESP files as packed are as squeaky clean as I can make them. Since there are so many eggs, many cells in the game are modified. Do not clean these entries or the eggs will disappear. Be sure to clean your house mod of other dirty entries before playing, but nothing that comes from these ESP files should require cleaning.

The original Readme file by Bryss Phoenix is included.

A marvelous modder by the name of Drackolus went to the trouble to make icons for each individual egg. He did not modify the original ESP to include these so I added them to each version of the mod. I also had to fix one placement of an egg in Bryss� original ESP, because it was not visible to the player.

Drakkmore made a texture replacer for the crystal eggs. As of the making of this mod, it was not possible to download the mod from Fliggerty�s site, but I had it on my hard drive and I�ve included it as part of the downloads package so you can choose to use it or not. Please see the extras folder for this.

There are two cheat files. One is for either using 01 or 02. The second one is for the Mines & Caverns version. It tells where all the eggs are located should you need help finding them. Some have tricky placements and may not be easily seen. You will need Night Eye, Telekinesis and Levitation at times to find these.

PERMISSIONS:
Free to use with credit because a lot of intensive work went into the original mod and into the display cases (but it was worth all of it!).
