For anyone who had a save with the 0.2 version and wants to update to 0.4,here's what I've tried for a solution:Install the mod normally through ME3Tweaks. Then, proceed to the game folder (where ME is installed) and enter the DLC folder, then the DLC_XMEOw folder and open the AutoLoad.ini file (preferably with Notepad++). There, add this line (CreditsFile="BIOCredits_DLC_XMEOw.ini") without the parentheses in the GUI section.
That way the mod is going to be shown in the Downloadable Content section in the Options of the game, although it'll say version 0.2,which I don't think matters as the file that makes the changes is inside the CookedPC folder of the mod,the change above simply points to the ini file BIOCredits_DLC_XMEOw inside the mod folder. I couldn't load my previous savegames nor was it recognised as DLC,although it probably still worked. There's also the possibility to change something in the BIOCredits file so it says version 0.4,but that's unnecessary for now.
Alternatively, you can edit the Autoload of the mod inside the folder from where ME3Tweaks installs it and it should, probably, work.
Let me know if anything doesn't work and I hope I helped.
The only change I've noticed that might be a matter of contention with the "lore" is reverting Armali to Aramali; I believe it was a late retcon in the writing and development process in ME1, or perhaps even a simple typo, but by ME3, a War Asset you pick up is the Armali Sniper Unit. The Mass Effect: Initiation novel also features mention of an Armali Children's Almanac.
I've been thinking of doing my own Codex mod for all three of the games incorporating my FABT head canon lore into the game. Could you give me a rundown of what files I need to edit and what programs are needed to edit Codex entries if you get the chance? I'd immensely appreciate it.
I know this has already been asked, but is this mod really compatible with ME1 Recalibrated? The description for this mod says it is, but ME1Re says "Mass Effect Overwritten is currently incompatible and should not be used in conjunction with ME1RE until the author has updated his mod settings to not conflict." I'm wondering if that has been fixed or if it is still considered incompatible.
EDIT: Also, this could be a side effect of how I installed it, but could this mod be made into a non-required DLC? I tried testing without MEOw installed, but the game wouldn't let me load my save without it.
The problem is not the contents of the mod (which work with ME1RE), but the DLC setup is incorrect so it breaks all DLC mods. A manual fix is in the bugs section here. I have messaged hyperum but he has yet to update the mod.
Speaking of "non-required DLC", I reinstalled the game with this mod but it won't let me load my save, because it thinks it's missing. Is there any way to fix this?.
I'm rebuilding my game. I've installed "Faster Elevators", the binkw23 and 32 dlls, "Improved Mako" this mod and "ME1 Recalibrated". Before installing MEUITM, I launched my test game to make sure everything was working first. It didn't launch and the error I got was "DLC_XMEOW has an improperly formatted autoload.ini blah blah contact the mod author... Mass Effect will now close." I used 7-zip for the extraction. I extracted the DLC folder to my desktop and dropped that into my Mass Effect/DLC folder. This is holding me up. I really don't want to install this mod or anything after MEUITM.
Hey Wolfmod, I was having the same problem. I figured that it was related to load order of DLCs. If you go to your game directory; under "Mass Effect\DLC\DLC_XMEOw", there is an AutoLoad.ini. I've added lines below with notepad++ and it started working:
[ME1DLCMOUNT] ModName=ME Overwritten ModMount=6
I've copied the lines from ME1 Recalibrated and edited the number and the name. I hope it works for you too.
Just curious, were you able to get it working with the given solution? Someone else also commented about the autoload.ini earlier, it seems. I haven't really had the time to look at this page or load up Mass Effect since I've been in basic military training for the last two months :/
Hi, I´ve just installed ME1 with ME1Re, Faster Elevators and texture mods. The solution mentioned worked for me (or at least, I can see the main menu :) ).
I can also confirm the solution by synriah works, I have ME1RE, ME1 Controller, Faster Elevators and texture mods installed. I did this solution before installing ALOV, ALOT and MEUITM however.
This is truly amazing and a huge amount of work. THANK YOU.
Ps: the American English decision is fine, the most important thing is consistency. Don't let others who are hurt because it's not their preferred English discourage you from this. If it bothers them so much, they can create their own mod. This is coming from someone who leaned UK English before American English. :)
For future reference: I chose American English because, currently, Mass Effect uses a mix of US and UK spellings, even to the point of using multiple spellings for the same word! (I believe this is what's known as "Canadian English"). Since 70% of English speakers use AmE, which is often slightly more phonetic, that's the choice I went with.
I'm not super duper bent out of shape about this, but the game was developed in Canada by Canadians, so it seems to me (as a Canadian) that following Canadian English standards would be the right thing to do!
AFAIK, Canadian English spellings are quite ill-defined, and this is shown in the multiple spellings of Mass Effect. At some point, I might be able to find a copy of the Canadian Oxford Dictionary, but I think a en-UK version would be a higher priority.
This pretty much sums them all up. We always use the -our endings to words, but we use -ization over -isation, etc. That article shows that even American English is fairly inconsistent; the USS Enterprise instead of the USS Enterprize, etc.
I love what you've done here except for taking a Canadian work of art and Americanizing it. I don't think this is an issue of whether or not 90% of the English speaking world uses Canadian spelling conventions or not, I think it's an issue of maintaining artistic integrity. Just as you would be offended if someone from the UK "corrected" the spelling in one of your artistic works, I think we need to respect the source material and the authors enough to maintain their cultural integrity.
Sure, I can understand that viewpoint, although I personally wouldn't find it offensive. Nevertheless, I was and am still working on a solution that should be able to fix that and other issues simultaneously - it may take a few months to come out, depending on how much time I'll turn out to have, but I will update the mod again when I'm finished with it.

Disregard I used regular notepad and it worked fine.

nah thanks for this, this seem like an awesome project and will help flesh out the ME universe!
